Craig, I know you quite well. The thought of you moving to CA is laughable.

As far as housing goes... the housing in FL is MUCH cheaper. The weather is hot. If you can handle 100 degree days with high humidity, then that's not a problem. But the summers here are brutal. Fl is a relatively cheap place to live, so long as you don't live somewhere like Boca Raton or South Beach. There is no state tax either (not sure about CA). I suspect CA taxes everything that moves and doesn't move. FL has a lot of lakes and there is ocean all around. I don't think anywhere in FL is more than an hour or two from the ocean.

@Pastor Frank, i could understand suggesting a lad visit minnesota, just for the punishment factor, but inviting a fellow baiter is just being mean.

I do like Minnesota for the few weeks we get to enjoy spring, summer and fall (autumn) but be honest, 9 months of winter is too much for any of us. I mean here it is March 12 and when I woke this morning it was
-8f. Wink

In Florida, no matter where you live, you're never more than sixty five miles (105 km?) from the beach.

Summer can be brutally hot but there's usually a consistent 4:30 thunderstorm to cool things off.

Taxes in California are considerable. There are state income taxes and sales taxes that will increase on 1 April. Craig007's vehicles will also be taxed at a percentage of their value plus a fixed fee on an annual basis. The present state of the state means that the vehicle tax will increase considerably by the time Craig007 will attempt to register his cars.

A few years ago Oregonians would say "Don't Californicate Oregon. Now they just want a job.

I must personally chime in for the Shenandoah Valley-beautiful country.If I hadn't laid down firm roots where I am,I would likely move there.Trouble with this country is it is a big damn place.Before making a commitment like that,why not visit it for an extended period of time and sample all of the regions?

The Shenandoah Valley is beautiful, Charlottesville is about 30 minutes to the east.

I hear that Georgia possibly sucks, but haven't been able to confirm it yet and I'm not sure if I want to. But I may not have much choice if the company decides to set up shop in the wopwops of the US (wiki is your friend, just this once).

Georgia does suck for the most part. Savannah is pretty much it's only redeeming factor.
