I have found over the years that sharp things and hands do not go well together.

I have spent many years working as a first aider on large construction sites and have seen many nasty accidents when the two come together.

I could write for hours of some of the injuries I have seen but it will be lunch or diner time somewhere in the world so perhaps it is for the best that I dont.

I do hope it mends quickly, keep it dry and clean, use antiseptic if it gets red and itchy and although you will be tempted, leave the stitches in, at least until the day you are meant to get them taken out Wink

@Softy, I have seen the effect of power saws on thumbs as well, lucky for the person who owned the thumb in the case I recall, after many months of treatmnet he did get the use of it back.

Just thinking of some of the injuries I have seen while I am typing, back when I was an apprentice, another person in the tech class stopped attending classes for a while, we found that he had cut his hand quite badly with his chisel, the rest of the class spent the next few weeks considering odds on how the injury occured, as it turned out, nobody was right, when he returned to classes some months later he told us what had happened.

He was sharpening his chisel, checking that it was sharp enough to shave hairs off his arm as all good apprentices do, when he was happy with the sharpness he was putting the protective cover back onto the sharp end, he missed the protective cover and instead sliced his hand open

Hope you heal well....

I remember when I was 12 and my cousin was 14, we got into an argument over who was old enough to have the steak knife. Stuid I know, but we were young. Well, was the older one, so naturally he had the steak knife. I went to grab it from him and grabbed the wrong end and sliced my finger open. I was hurt and embarassed..... we never did that again...lol

This reminds me of an accident I had on my first job where I was coring onions and the blade went through and got my wrist. I could barely feel my hands for four days afterwards.
