I'd say spam. By ordering that, you are probably joining their "coffee of the month" club or something. They may be hoping to hook you into regular monthly payments.
Edit to add:
This link seems to shed more light on them, FWIW. |

Spam...Legit, standard "coffee of the month club" as Ima pointed out. I was a member a few years back, actually (a friend of mine liked their coffee, I joined, got myself a free coffeemaker and the friend a gift of coffees for her birthday)--one of the "you must tell us not to or we will send a new shipment" variety. Canceled after I got what I wanted, no problem.. |

I'm not much of a straight coffee person myself (I'm more into iced coffee drinks and baking with coffee) but it worked fine for my purposes, and my coffee-loving friend (she practically lived at Caribou coffee for a while) liked the Gevalia quite a bit.
They change giveaways from time to time, but when I did it, the free coffeepot was actually good quality too. |

@Dorothy: thank you for the info. I was watching the thread and was wondering about the same issue as to whether the coffer was any good. Course, it has to be better than Maxwell house. I get the ads in my email all the time, so I was wondering if it was any good. I didn't think that it was a scam-- just Hype adverts, but enough people say it's good, so I think I'll try it and if I don't like it-- well, I'll stop it. thanks again. |

They were very good when I canceled, not at all pushy, but one caveat--if it's like it used to be, make sure you cancel or adjust your order schedule quickly or by default you will get a lot.
I wish I could remember what flavors my friend liked--she definitely thought some were better than others--but then it's probably an individual preference thing anyway. |

Thanks Dorothy. I'll probably give it a 2-4 month try just to be fair and try several selections. Again, thanks. |

Yep, no kidding. I'm a rather trigger-happy scam fighter, but this one is no scam or at least wasn't when I tried it.
I'm actually not surprised that Gevalia is still doing this. It is a great way to try their service which is expensive, but not insanely so (as I remember).
I signed up, got the free coffee pot and canceled with no problem. That was something near 10 years ago and that coffee pot still works perfectly.
Now that I think about it, I never spent a penny with Gevalia, but the coffee was great and this crazy, un-dead zombie coffee maker is just super-natural.
I almost feel guilty, but if they are now sending spam then I can get over myself. Have we confirmed this is unsolicited spam (sorry if I missed that)?
