Thought it was a check scam

I picked up (out of surplus) what I thought was a check scam.

It turns out they don't want me to process checks. They are asking me to provide a credit card number, codes, mothers maiden name... in order to place the money on my card. Then I am supposed to deduct the 10% and forward the cash. It appears that they are only after the cc info.

At this point I'm not sure how to play it. The typical responses don't seem to apply. I can send fake info but that really doesn't do much to make them work.

Ideas?
