anyone had a scammer fake a plane itinerary?

Long story short, my mother was 'charmed' by a british guy who lives in america doing business in nigeria when (naturally) he gets into a car accident and the doctor contacts my mother for money (yes, unfortunately she DID give away too much personal info...she was not scambaiting and didn't know of 419's until this event unfolded.) Anyway, I took over and let them know that no money will be sent, gave them the link to the website of hawaiin models that they stole the pics from and told them that if this was real, he can contact the u.s. embassy and lagos for assistance (and provided the url for the embassy). Well, as it turns out, apparently the guy is released from hospital (the nice doctor paid his expenses and also bought his ticket to motreal Canada (next province over from me) and my mother received an email from [email protected] confirming that a ticket has been purchased from lagos to montreal under the guy's name. He had a brief conversation with my mother telling her that he was coming here to prove to her that he isn't fake and also to kill her son (me) (yes, he said this in the same sentence.) Incidentally, he also asked her to give him $100 U.S. to get him from Montreal to here. For those who have stopped laughing and wondered if he asked for the money after saying he is coming to kill me, no, he asked first, she denied him, and then he said she was wicked, asked if she still loved him, and then said he was "coming to help you and kill your son".

I've been to KLM and the flight does show up (although his ticket shows only one-way and I don't have that as an option with KLM coming out of Nigera) but anyway.....is there any way this could have been rigged or spoofed?

Is he going by "Ronald Thomas" or Ronaldthomas40 at Yahoo.com? If so, I know who this guy is. He tried the same trick on a coworker.

I just dunno if they have the ability to spoof a confirmed ticket or not as it came from noreply at klm.com

You can spoof an airline ticket, I've seen it done. This is exactly what happened to my coworker. I don't think it's the same guy and the pictures aren't the same, but it is the same modality.

SSA is prob right, but I'll post my thoughts anyway. If he can convince one vic to buy him a 1 way ticket he can send the confirmation to a dozen others asking for $100.00 traveling money to prove he's real. He never needs to get on the plane to make pay day.

Next the ones who won't give him traveling money he can try to run a hit man scam on.

You can get an E-ticket which is a reservation and nothing else. This is what the lad did to my coworker and she believed it.

** UPDATE **

the confirmation was indeed real and indeed from klm.com

i booked a ticket using his cell (yes, i have his cell mwahahahahahaha) and an old email not tied to me and you can book your ticket and confirm your booking without paying anything by selecting "pay by bank" as your payment options.....you are given an email saying you have to pay within 2 days through your nigerian bank (I don't think i can make it there in time to pay) .... once you have done that...you can go to "my bookings" where you can email the details to any address you want.....
So...confirmation of booking is real...doesn't mean it was ever (or will ever be) paid for.
Just a tidbit of info to share with all. By the way, does this mean he will be getting phone calls now from people wanting money from him??

poor guy....(oh wait...he wants to kill me.....hehehehe)

Why not wait until he is in Montreal (check email) and don't send money anyway Twisted Evil

He will never arrive there, but might have a friend there. A $100 isn't going to get him from Montreal to anywhere I'm afraid.A Greyhound trip say Montreal-- New York single trip = $84.00 and when he gets there, what is he going to live on? Would be an interesting question to ask him Laughing

BUT he has yours and your Mom's real life information and these guys are criminals so I have to advice you to tell him to go to hell, stop all contact and take your losses.

AND, please post the story with as much info as possible on our sister site scamwarners.com so her story can help others to avoid the same mistake.
They can also help your mother to prevent further losses and to digest this whole story.

yes, she is aware it is a scam and she now has blocked him.

she was a bit concerned with the ticket confirmation and started second guessing which is why i went to investigate how he would've "proved" his ticket without buying it...

I have sent her the confirmed booking that i made to demonstrate that it doesnt mean he is actually coming.

I am sure she will be a little more cautious in the future.

She has been reading the letters on this site and getting familiar (and entertained) with the types of scams going and she is being more obsvervant about people's behaviour online.

I'm sure if we can do it, scammers can do it.

On many occasions I have produced a fake flight ticket in order to fool the lads, so I assume they could also do the same.
