Really bad news from home

My mother was admitted to the hospitial yesterday.Today my brother called with the bad news , mom has colon cancer.Her Doctor gives her three to four months .I am still numb from the news .I talked to her for two hours on Christmas day she was laughing and very happy and told me how she was looking foreward our next visit.Tonight I am making arriangments to drive home to see her for the last time, to say goodbye.

That's the shits Sarge, I feel for you and your family. Its gonna be a though time for you all and nothing we can do to help you with it.
Drive safe and rest in time, no need to speed or push through, better get there in one piece. If not everybody can go take recent pictures with you of the ones that can't go, they might not be able to say goodbye, but mom will.

Facing the loss of a parent is absolutely devastating and you have my sympathy. Remember, she isn't gone yet; focus on the time you have left.

That's really worrying news and I feel for you Sarge. I hope you will take care of yourself and take strength and comfort from your loved ones, friends and family around you.

As Bill said, drive carefully, take rests, and I hope you're remembering to eat. You have to take care of yourself.

I've been through the loss of a parent and share your sorrow. Right now your grief is raw. I can only tell you that while it never goes away, father time will place a comforting salve on it.

Wishing you and your family strength to get through the coming days, and try to focus on the great peace that's ahead of your Mom. Take care of yourself and remember.... 'no regrets'.

My stepfather had colon cancer, so I understand a little bit of what you're going through. Make sure you spend as much time with her as you can.

i recently rewatched a movie called patch adams with robin Williams in it if you can get acopy grab it i believe you and your mother will get alot out of it you will cry but you will laugh as well . Again ow thoughts are with you drive safe god bless

Sorry to hear about that. It must have been going for a while. I know its not what you want to hear but you should schedule a colonoscopy procedure at a much earlier age.

I went through what you are dealing with 3 years ago and it was a terrible shock to learn that my father had advanced and incureable colon cancer. The best thing you can give you mother is your time and love. Just be with her and cherish every moment and make your and her memories ones of laughter, not tears.

And yes, you must go and have a check up yourself. Demand it if necessary. These things often run in the family and early detection is vital.

I feel for you Sgt. My father died of the same thing a few years ago.

If you have anything to say to your mother, say it now, no matter how awkward it may be. It becomes too late long before the end.

The only good thing about cancer is it gives us time to say goodbye.

I'm so sorry to hear the sad news about your mother. My best thoughts and wishes are with you and your family. Words are never enough at times like this.

Cherish the time you have left, but don't forgot about all of the wonderful times you have already shared. Let her know how much she means to you and to those around you, and how she has positively touched everyone's life. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to lean on other for support and strength. I know it can be difficult for men. It is not a sign of weakness. My mom passed away from pancreatic cancer over 2 years ago so I feel your pain. It is a difficult situation and time, but it is easier to survive when you are surrounded by friends and family. Be there for each other. I'm sending out big hugs in your direction. I hope one makes it to you.

Thank all of you for your prayers, kind words and support.As it turned out my mother died after one week .When I arrived she could no longer speak and was under narcotics for pain as they made her as confortabe as possible.At first sight I did not recognize her and was shocked at her condition.She looked as though she weighed 50 lbs.So differnt from this June when I saw her last.I still fell guilty for saying this but I felt a sense of relief when she died ,because she was finally out of pain. I love my mother and miss her.

I missed this thread. I am so very sorry for your loss Sgt.
Don't feel guilty about how you feel as I'm sure seeing her suffer must have been really really hard.
You will always love and miss her - with time, you will smile when thinking of her rather than the tears which I'm sure is how you're feeling now.
