Hi all,

This is my first post, but am so pleased to have found such a group. I have been wasting scammers time for years now for my own perverse enjoyment, just as a way of wasting their time and letting them think they have me hooked.

The last one I had was in the last fortnight. I've got a property abroad that I rent out, and advertise on lots of sites but this one came via an Irish property rental site.

Bruce Parker needs accommodation for a month and wants details of the property, photos, prices etc etc. I responded as always in a professional manner, and I get back an email which is all slang......clearly not written by the first person. They then ask for confirmation of the price. He then comes back with far too much info on his business trip and says he thinks the whole month will cost £2500 (sterling) so his personal assistant will send me 2500 and when I have taken my rental off I need to send back western union transfer for the rest. Ha ha ha.

It wasnt happening but I had some fun before giving him a bit of grief. He seems to have gone now, but I feel better Smile

How did I do???

Jo

That's a very common check scam modality. These can be fun to play with but not with your real details. We're all about baiting safely, which means fake names, throwaway email addresses, and nothing that can lead back to you personally.

You've obviously got the right idea, so (as everyone says here) read the stickies, request a mentor, and start making these scammer's lives miserable! Wink
