'Prisoner' actor Patrick McGoohan dies in LA
Patrick McGoohan, the Emmy-winning actor who created and starred in the cult classic
television show "The Prisoner," has died. He was 80.

But he was most famous as the character known only as Number Six in "The Prisoner,"
a sci-fi tinged 1960s British series in which a former spy is held captive in a small
enclave known only as The Village, where a mysterious authority named Number One
constantly prevents his escape.

A great shame. I've been to Portmerion, where they filmed The Prisoner.
The giant ball that bounced around keeping everyone in line, was called Rover, funnily enough....

I remember him best from Danger Man - great fun (The Prisoner was a classic and deserves its iconic status).

I loved him in Danger Man, and watched The Prisoner just to see him (what can I say - I was a teenaged girl with a crush).
And I loved it when he was on Columbo. He was such a deliciously villainous villain. |

I am sad to learn of his passing, as that I've been a Prisoner fan for many years.
We have lost a man of many talents. I am grateful that he shared them with us during his time on earth. |

I bought the box set of the Prisoner a few years back, time for a weekend of re-runs just to remember the most quirky, puzzling and great series

The Prisoner was truly an amazing series. I stumbled across an episode when I was flipping. I made the kids watch it with me. Alfterwards they told me i was "wierd". High praise indeed..... |
