R.I.P

(the kids weren't impressed when I put his littls corpse out with the rest of the trash. Now they want a cat (sigh, it never ends).

If you can provide a loving home for a cat and please the kids at the same time then why not?

I know what it implies, I'm just not sure why? I thought the rabbit always died, regardless of the test results.

i'm glad my wife doesn't look over my shoulder, we just got two for the kids for christmas... she doesn't want to see people saying bunnies are dead Wink

Hummm... Little bunny? So how old was the rabbit? How did the rabbit die? How old are the kids? If they are ready, a nice pet is a guinea pig. If they are old enough, give them a lad.

When I was younger, we had a guinea pig that died of presumably hypothermia and we wound up throwing it away.

Before you think I am inhumane, we had also taken in two kittens. One died of some sickness and I buried it meself in the backyard. Kind of a hard thing to do seeing how it died in my very hands after I felt it purring during its last moments.

Poor old Bun Bun hadn't been well for a while and he was very old (10+). I was frankly expecting something like this. I came downstairs and he was gone. Rather than having the kids make the discovery I had a few personal moments of silence for him and then whisked him out of the building...

He was pretty well trained and had a good personality. He was extremely good at stripping insulation from electrical cords without electrocuting himself. We got him before the dog and the dog is much better at getting in your face and demanding attention. When the dog goes we will have to get the grief counsellors in for everybody.

Oh. and yes, I do know very well what "the rabbit died" means. Shocked

Larry, sorry to hear about the bunny. Getting a cat is a good thing. Actually, get another cat every 3-4 years. That way you always have a minimum of 2 backup cats in case something happens to one of them.

Two problems with a cat:

1. I am alergic....

2. I have a boxer who are notorously bad for getting along with cats unless the cat is introduced when they are a puppy.

3. just don't like cats all that much (obviouls the minority view in our house)

wait a minute. ..that's three reasons. For some reason the urge to alk about the Spanish Inquisition has floated into my mind....

^^^ No, frogs are what they use to make high school biology students faint.

We had short silent times for each of our departed pets, and then they were buried in a special part of our property. We didn't have grave markers or anything, but we knew that Inky, Salty, and Cinnamon were all there, and my dad mowed very carefully in that area.

Larry, I'm sorry Bun Bun died. But your kids do need some sort of ceremony to say goodbye. Crying or Very sad

My Jack Russel fetches me a nice rabbit every now and then. He hasn't caught a squirrel yet, they're too fast for him.

I wonder what they taste like..... hmmm.
