The lads have been busy over the holiday. After several years using gmail
less than a few bits of spam managed their way through the formidable
gmail spam gauntlet. Over the last few days a bunch of broken "probes"
to undisclosed recipients from undisclosed and script-born senders landed
in my "spam" box. The first half dozen have no pitch in the message
body and appear to be tests to determine if their scripts were hitting the
intended marks. Today... a Boxing Day trophy from SN0WE Edwin
Junior - member of the Liberian House of Representatives!
Lucky for me (since my Christmas gifts were on the lean side this year),
SN0WE ED makes me an offer I can't refuse - 30% of $5.5 M.
"I hope to trust you as a God fearing person who will not sit on this
money when you claim it, rather assist me properly, I shall be ready to
offer you 30%."
I will be doing my best to help SN0WE Ed in 2009. MY "risk-free" 30% of
$5.5M would come in pretty handy during these tough recession times.
I could use some expertise on how to hook-line-and-sink SNOWE so I'll
have to spend some time reading the 419eater FAQ etc.
Anywho, all the best for '09.

Welcome to eater, undertowz. A lot can be learned from reading all the stickies at the top of each forum, and it will get you off to a good start. You might want to read some of Eater University's tutorials, especially Straight Baiting, and Payment Delaying Tactics. If you think you need more help, sign up for our mentoring program (one of the stickie topics.) If you have questions, you can post them in Help, Hints, and Tips and we will do our best to answer them. Good luck with your 5.5 million. |

Thanks SH I got a nice reply from SN0WE Ed asking for the usual
name addy ph # and so on. I'll get the hang of this quickly, my long
and celebrated history on Usenet in the early days when the life or
death of a newsgroup was decided with a few wrangled or forged votes
gave me all the tools and skills I need. Trolling the pompous and the ugly
on Usenet isn't much different from baiting the Lads. As per address and
phone number - the inbound number for a large local chain of pizza
shops would chew up some cell phone dollars? Also an outright bogus
street address? Assuming the guy needs to mail anything do you
recommend post boxes or what?
I'll make some mistakes in format until I get the hang of posting.
Below a priceless typo. SN0WE moves his money around in a

The phone number of a pizza place would annoy the pizza place and tip off the scammers that they're being baited.
Better to give them a number that doesn't get answered by humans, or a number that you can answer but can't be traced to you.
See http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=154451 for good ideas. |

Please don't
That is downright irresponsible and won't be looked upon kindly here.
We try not to get innocent third parties involved in our scambaiting activities.
Try to be a little more inventive and not involve others who may not be as amused as you with your scambaiting. |

The pizza number trunks you through 10 minutes of advertising wait time before ever reaching a human - I understand the ethics completely and being looked upon in any positive/negative light is of no interest to me.
This is an international chain that sells grease on cardboard as pizza. The fact that the Lad smells the rat is a far more relevant consideration to my query thanks minette |

Well blow my lips off. (and do let me know if I'm posting in the wrong
forum) I just clicked on the links SNOWE included in his original pitch for
verification. "This" Lad is indeed listed on the Travel Ban list at un.org.
SN0WE's email address is the full name of the SNOWE Edwin Jr. So, the
lad is using SN0WE's ID which adds an element of international intrigue
stupidity. The link appears in his original email on my original posting of
this thread.
SN0WE-Ed Jr.'s bio from the travel shitlist at un.org

In view of my novice status at 419eater I'm going to need whatver advice
anyone has to offer. I'm thinking I proceed as outlined in the FAQ and
not treat this as anyone special? Or, ramp it up and treat the guy to like
an international figure and offer him 10s o' thousands for media
interviews? Getting pics from a "member of the Liberian House" to stand
with carp-on-head might be tough. Finally, Isn't my lad risking a public
beheading by simply using the real deal's ID? |

@undertowz - Please don't ignore posts by Moderators (Green), like Breddan Butter and say things like this:

Does this mean that you intend on using ITP, Innocent Third Party, phone numbers to give to lads, against the advice of the Moderators here? I certainly hope not, and if you have questions about whether you should do this, and why we feel it is not ok, please PM Breddan Butter and get it straightened out. Also, please read all the Stickies to see how we do things around here. It is entirely unnecessary to involve ITPs in baits, and it does cost the ITP money in terms of their own phone costs and wasted time. Minette's post has some very good alternatives you can use when the issue of phones come up with your lads.
About your bait, I would say just treat him slowly, and don't jump right in and make him justify his story. Go along with it, and see what arises that you can use later on in the bait, when the lad trusts you to pay him.
Eater University is a great resource for ideas too.
Good luck with your lad! |

Nod, not much I can do other than wait for instructions. He's got my
"name" (Will Knots) and "numbers" (yes, yes, from K7) and I'm waiting
for his reply.
The blur arises from the lad posing as an international scammer
on a UN shitlist directly out of the gate. Since he's after my confidence
you'd think he'd have chosen a less scurrilous identity.
Starting with a "celebrity" lad is a challenge. |
