Apologies for the long post, if this is not the right place for it I will remove it, but this is the conversation I had with a scammer last night. He told me his birthday was 20 December (I think he said) but it was the same birthday or J@mes @ndre and also he 'knew' that I'd been talking to other men on the site so I think both men were 'him' and that's how he knew:

I know! Sorry! I was replacing the words with the codes for colours of text and finger slipped! I'll change it now!  
edit: deleted the duplicated part - sorry about that! When he asked for my address I thought 'Oh Bugger! what can I do?' The only American postcode I know is 90210 from a TV show from many years ago so I googled 90210 Real Estate and found an empty house to give him that address. The price I gave him was the actual asking price! I never actually saw an episode of it but I remember it was called Beverly Hills 90210 so I thought it's a real American postcode and the only one that I know so I'd use that. I keep meaning to find out the postcode of the Whitehouse or the Empire State Building and memorise them so I can have a few more if I ever need them. Must do that at some point.
I am a huge Marilyn Monroe fan and when he said Brentwood i remembered that in one of my Marilyn Monroe books I read she lived in Brentwood at one point, which is where the 'near where Marilyn Monroe used to live' aside came in.

Hey Ms. Daisy.
I liked your chat and thanks for sharing with us.
Just remember too with lads alot of the time they will use real people pics that they get from other vics to just seem more real to victims.
When they use the model pics it throws up a lot of red flags to normal people.
Im chatting with a few lads that are using regular looking pics of people.
Some are even balding and some are chubby.
They want to appear like a regular guy.
Of course they have the bad lad grammar, always want a cell number right up front, and they always ask for money and travel out of the country where they have lots of problems.
So dont go by pics. Go by actions and IP addresses.
It will come more and more easier as you play with more and more lads.
I even enjoy playing with the dumb lads that I think no one could possibly fall for. They help me to gain experience and practice and they can surprise you with some of the things they come up with.
So dont you worry you are doing just fine.
And if something happens and they drop you, there are so many more out there so willing to take their place and enjoy your special attention.  |

The Regular pics is a new one to me, you're right and your advice is solid. That seemingly sweet, slightly older, little bit overweight man, kind of nice looking I thought? Non-threatening... If the Lad is using that profile pic then I think the lad is fairly intelligent? I might be wrong (I generally am when it comes to baiting) I constantly learn new things that seem blindingly obvious in retrospect.
Either I'm as dumb as a box of rocks or baiting is far more complex than most people think it is. Because I never thought of myself as a stupid person but day by day here, I'm constantly being amazed by how little I know when it comes to baiting or scamming situations.
I thought he would pick a picture of a gorgeous male model or a picture of himself, not a sweet, middle aged, slightly overweight Canadian divorcee with a shy smile and a (to me) realistic sounding history!

Your willingness to bait scammers who hurt people shows you are not dumb. Thats a very good decision. It just takes practice thats all.
When I first started a few months ago I felt the same as you.
I had some VERY nice patient baiters here who helped me understand that its like taking a new job. Except you get to be the boss.
It takes a while with a new job to be good and comfortable at that job.
You dont start a new job knowing everything. You have to learn.
Baiting is the same. We have to start thinking like the criminal which to us is very hard because we are not criminals. I let them teach me.
They will lie and maneuver and manipulate. So we turn that around on them and do that back to them. The lads will teach you how to be a better baiter because you watch their lies and maneuvering and learn to use them for your purposes on other lads. You are doing fine!

Very true I think. I feel constanly surprised that they don't seem to have a limit or a point where they would put their hands up and say 'ok, I can't do this - it's too mean...' I always think about a story I read where the victim was going to sell her baby's bed and buggy to give him the last of her money. She wasn't a baiter, she was a victim and someone stepped in but if he hadn't, she would have done that. he took everything from her. I kept thinking (as I read the story) that at some point he would say 'Oh no I can't do this, her baby had no food for 3 days and she is being evicted from her home and she sold her computer to give me money and she is reduced to emailing me on her mobile phone - she's lost everything and her baby is starving I'd better stop trying to scam her - but he didn't! It was only when someone from ScamWarners stepped in that it was stopped!
It always amazes me that they don't seem to have a limit at which they would say - enough is enough. But they don't have that limit I don't think? They'd carry on till someone starved to death or something!  |

I have one that knew I was eating beans every night (I was so broke) who was offended when I offered to wire $5 to him (I only had 15$ left till payday a week away)...
He got angry and said 5$ wouldn't even buy him dinner -- his HOTEL cost 35 a night (I pointed out that was more than my mortgage)...and he ate at the hotel restaurant - 12$ for one meal (I pointed out a bag of beans costs $2)
It really irritated me that he would "admit" he was living in a hotel eating out 3 meals a day, not taking a job because there were no GOOD ones, expecting me (eating beans) to give him money !!! |

I have had a couple that has sounded like a real person for two or three days but then they go on to begin the game. I have them fall in love and ready to marry in the first conversation most of the time... |
