I've used Cclearner for years and run it nearly every day, but I've never used the grayed out <advaced options> at the bottom of the main page.
<advanced options> normally say to me " don't touch me unless you really know what your doing!!"
Am I going to find myself with problems I don't need if I check the boxes and what benifits would it give me ? |

Advanced options allows you to select or de-select certain items to clean or not clean. For example I have knocked out the Word document history so I can see where I've been in Word recently.
It is safe to use. |

IMO its best to leave the "Hotfix uninstallers" box unchecked. You never know when Microsoft might slip you a wrong 'un. Sometimes you get issues with software not working unless it was installed before a certain update, and they don't take up much space.
ETA: Oh and if you like Ccleaner, you'll love Advanced SystemCare. It's a free all-in-one, wash and brush-up for your system. |

@spot.
If you use the latest version of CCleaner it will tell you in layman's terms (near enough) what it does when you tick each box. Well, most of them anyway.
In Windows, I have left Menu Order Cache and User Assist History and unchecked. Everything else has a tick and it works fine.
In Applications, the only thing left unchecked is Firefox Saved Form Information. |
