Do you have any emails with headers? If so, you should check your IP's. I'd say your "honey" is more likely to be from Africa than former Soviet Union.

1) the lads are more likely to claim to be British than vlads, who usually don't try to hide the country they are in.

2) The really poor chopping also suggests lad instead of vlad. Vlads are generally a little (sometimes a lot) better at photochopping than lads, and this is extremely bad--there isn't a single finger even touching the front of the "paper," let alone holding it. If the sign doesn't mess up the search, you might want to run it through tineye. Your pic is probably something off the net (maybe off a porn or lingerie site). It is not at all connected to your lad.

3) The few sentences you posted also say "lad" more than vlad. Lads tend to use more slang (pics vs. pictures). They also tend to ignore capitalization and punctuation. The vlads often use babelfish or some other translator. Their emails can be very confusing, but they will likely capitalize "I" and other proper nouns, and they are more likely to use punctuation.

There is little point in going for thophy pictures unless you like photochopped pictures, sadly you shouldn't slap the lad for that butchered picture, lads think westerners are dumb enough to fall for crap like that and while they think that, they are not going to have much luck scamming people using that picture.

Vlads on the other hand can fool even the trained eye Wink

Thanks for the analysis... although I can write as funny as the next person, I have no techno-savvy, so maybe you explain...

a) how do I find the IP.... on yahoo it just gives the addy from the sender -- no headers that I can find... is there some tool that will provide me the find it...

b) what is tineye? I've since it referenced here several times? how do I access it... and how would I go about "running it through tineye"? I have a number of other pictures that "Lena" has sent me without the sign.

c) since you suggest I not slap the scammer for the bad photoshop job, how would you think I should proceed.

headers in like yahoo - there is a little box at the top of the mail that says "show full headers" or something like that...I think g-mail has an arrow next to the name where you can click to see the full headers...not sure of the other ones...

once you find the full headers copy and paste it into :

And it will tell you what satellite it's coming from -- the goodle, who is & other options on that line of satellite provider can give you more info...

Tineye (www.tineye.com) takes a picture you have saved on the computer & you upload it and it compares underlying code of some sort to find the original picture...
I've found some pics don't show the info so nothing comes back, but that doesn't make them real pics of themselves...

a) showing headers on yahoo: Open the email. on the bottom right corner, below the email, there is a "full headers" link you can click. Then select the entire header, copy it and paste it into: [url]http://headertool.apelord.com/ [/url]
You do realize that Yahoo doesn't mask IP's, right? If you are baiting from that account, you should make sure your IP doesn't track too closely to you.

b) Tineye is a search engine (currently in beta) that catalogs images on the internet, and allows you to search for other copies of your image online. This way you may be able to trace the source of the images "she" sent. The image catalog is nowhere near complete, but I know I personally have found multiple images I have searched for. You have to set up an account to search, but it's free. Signs photochopped on an image can make tineye searches much more difficult, so it is best to search for some of the images that your lad didn't chop. http://tineye.com/login

c)At this point, if you are early in the script (don't know how far in you are), you are presumably falling in love. Compliment your lad on "her" looks, ask her all kinds of questions about her life, why someone as good looking as her doesn't have a boyfriend, has she ever considered modeling, whatever (it really doesn't matter what you ask). You might be able to get "her" off script now, if not, spread the questions over multiple emails so the lad runs through the script. Some lads can easily be pulled off script, while others will doggedly stick to the script until it runs out. If you are supposed to be in the same country (or even if you are not) and she is already "in love", you can start talking about a face-to-face meeting, maybe start openly planning to visit her so she has to start making excuses for why she can't meet you. You can play it many ways, but the easiest way to make her see dollar signs is to appear to be a slightly overzealous fool with stars in his eyes who is completely taken in by her. If you are already at the money stage (I'm assuming you aren't yet), you really want to send her the money, but things will go terribly wrong every time you try (see eater U for payment delaying tactics...)

Your right, the emails have not come from California and I am getting the same thing, I didn't see any reason for it in the header so i will need to try something else

Sunnyvale is actually where Yahoo is located. Just a random thought--is there maybe an issue because this was from one yahoo account to another?

It shouldn't be. I just checked a yahoo account with a mail from a lad using yahoo, and got his chinese ip.

I could be wrong on this but I think that email was perhaps sent by a mass mailer which will spoof not only an email address but also an IP

I sent an ASEM to the email address earlier, if I get a reply it should hopefully be without the use of the mailer in which case I will get the IP and location.

@Dorothy, Sunnyvale is one of the Yahoo IP locations, you will get similiar results with other email providors

Yahoo to yahoo doesn't casue IP problems, the are 4 main reasons for not being able to get the IP

Forwarded emails
Corrupted header
Spoofed IPs such as using "The Bat" or other mass mailers
Use of IP hiding email addresses

We know it isn't the last on the list so hoprfully if I get a reply I can eliminate the other 3 options

I think the whois is the one that said the domain was in canada...but the way they bounce off servers doens't mean anything...

it's not quite [email protected]... but it's not far off... I googled Sureway Travelling Agency, Ltd, and discovered that they also run a scam on international "jobs wanted" boards... applicants to a company called Captog Oil & Gas Company are notified that they have been hired based solely on their resume, but the one caveat is that they must start work that coming Monday... for a small fee (500 Euros) Sureway will take care of all their travel needs on the spot, plus airfare... the poor bugger I found on Google was so desperate to find a job, he had sent them a Western Union money order (and now was bemoaning the fact)... note the similarity of Sureway's confirmation to Lena's description of their them... you're right... these lad's must think Westerner's are all descendants of George W. Bush... except they spell a whole lot better Smile
