havent been on here for several days or dun any baiting for a few days...here is the reason:
my parents decided to hav a quick look see what i was doin on the internet and i explained, and they have decided to kick off at me bout it, even though ive told them that its safe and legal, but my dad thinks that its illegal, unsafe and that i might end up getting arrested by MI5 or the FBI or sumthin stupid like that, or might get abducted or sumthin lol..so theyve "banned" me from baiting etc and that ill get kicked out the house etc if thy catch me. So gotta be really careful from now on lol

Is baiting worth your domestic bliss? Sounds like they are concerned for your safety. Their knowledge of what we do seems limited to what you've told them, or what they've gleaned for themselves.

These concerns are normal so don't get angry at them for caring. It sounds like they don't understand what scam baiting is about. Maybe offer them some information on paper, show that we encourage members to bait safe and state a well informed case.

If they still don't understand and insist you not do it, then don't until you move out and have your own means to support yourself. We'll still be here. Not sure what advice you where looking for posting this, but I hope it helped in some way.

I can see their point, and they're only concerned for your welfare. And possibly theirs, as they are also ar risk from any threat to their son. A threat they don't know enough about, to assess.

I normally would encourage someone to rebel and do what ya want by suggesting underhanded tactics such as getting acquainted with proxies and cracking your router and making it so they can't track your activities, and explaining to them no one has ever been arrested for this in almost 6 years, but it seems to be a small sacrifice for having a free home to live in with free food with people you love. Don't take yer parents for granted.

hehe

well ye i can see that theyre tryin to look out for me and all but they reckon theyve looked on a couple of websites and that its led to a lot of ppl bein kidnapped or arrested cos theyve been traced..i cant find any websites that say that though..plus they think they know it all when it comes to internet security etc but they barely know how to use a firewall lol..
and tried explaining to them that ive taken as many precautions eg using gmail to hide ip, 3 firewalls (yes, 3, and that doesnt include the router firewall) and anti-virus, and using fake names etc..they wont listen though..hav told them to come on here and read some of the things that we do to help them understand but that led to me dad raising his fist Shocked

Learn to erase your browsing history gasshopper, and pass on your parents email addies and cell no's to a few lads, that'll teach them.
Seriously though, if you're living with them for free then you don't have much choice but to obey their wishes. You could try sitting down with them and rationally explaining what you are doing and how you are being safe but at the end of the day it's really up to them. How about joinging a library or similar so you can bait from there.

Several victims have been kidnapped, and killed after travelling abroad to meet scammers. Others have been arrested for defrauding others to obtain money to send to lads.
I've not heard of baiters getting into trouble.

I've never heard about a baiter being hurt. The worst I have heard is somebody getting a scammer turning up at his/her place of work. Mustn't have read the stickies.

I have thought long and hard before replying. I am not even sure I am the right person to say anything.

I can see right and wrongs on both sides, but the big question you need to address is what is more important to you?

Is it family harmony?

It cannot be purchased. Being without a family, happy or not, is a real handicap to carry around.

Not sure I am letting my RL show too much here.

The only baiter I know that got in trouble was the one who created a fake bank as a baiting modality (search for bank of Bedrock). Law enforcement wasn't too happy with that. But this can be as safe a sport as the baiter makes it.

@Nurse, I like to tell him every now and then that I enjoy cutting the grass now (because it's MINE!).

It is not until you become a parent yourself that you appreciate what you put your own parents through and the responsibility that comes with parenthood.

Frustrating, I can understand that part, but why not go for a solution that suits both parties?

Killing fake banks doesn't bring you in any contact with criminals, the whole scamwarners site is safe for the same reasons and if you discuss your adventures there with your parents they will learn that their kid has brains and knows exactly what he is doing, he is helping victims and blocking attempts of lads to get more victims the illegal way without contacting them directly, I guess, if you keep talking/educating them about it that the odds will change within a few months in your favor. Now it is an unknown area for them and as all good parents they will say, don't go there.
It's up to you to educate them, until they understand that you might be doing something good, that's fun and educational long before it gets risky or dangerous.

My-son-the-attorney (age 45), and his wife, the-other-attorney (age carefully guarded secret) won't let ME bait either! And I don't even live with them, and I don't even depend on them for financial support now (and please gawd not ever, trusting that my health stays fine and that my retirement monies last a good long while), but for the sake of family harmony I have refrained from disrespecting their wishes, at least for now. I spend a lot of time enjoying Eater but feeling like a kid with nose pressed against the candy-store window watching the antics of the rest of you.

However I don't think that they are a55holes.
I do think that they are (a) loving family who worry about my physical and emotional welfare, and (b) people who just don't know enough about "safe-baiting."

So I am engaged in a slow educational campaign, trusting that my powers of persuasion (and proof of my paid-up personal liability insurance policy) will eventually win them over.

i am living with parents while building again. im 31 and my dad is a bit on the overly safe side. He walked past and saw "hacker" and lost it. I tried to explain to him but gave up. you see it was my mr gomer who was the hacker and fraud star. If he had a gun im sure he would have waited out the front for weeks waitin gfor the lads to turn up.

thus when at home i tend to just go to a cafe to keep everyone happy.

Not that you'll listen but your parents are right. 100% on the button right. They don't give you crap to just hurt you. Quite the opposite. Trust me, just do as they say. If it still bother's you after a while, then talk to them about it. You'll be amazed how open to discussion they can be once you display the maturity to do as you are told.

It's parental instinct to have an uncontrollable desire to protect your children then there is also an instinct that makes you want you children to be happy. In that order.

Your parents, the a55holes, they would die for you. Suffer a long slow agonizingly painful death just to keep you safe.

Are you sure doing as you are told, at least for a while, is so bad?

i have listoned to what has been said did any one see the bit about raiseing his fist Evil or Very Mad

i hope this has not been happening in the past if so i feel he should get out or tell some one he can trust about what has happened
