Haven't touched my baiting mailbox in a while...
Here's an interesting mail that I would get a week ago if I'd check:

Received: from mail.com ([217.20.240.19])
by mx.google.com with SMTP id 1si11585725fxm.73.2008.12.07.03.04.15;

Subject: Transfer Ok
Date: Mon, 7 Jan 1980 06:33:05 +0100
Mike
I called the barrister severally to enquire about his new email address
I was able to make the payment of $3,150 by money transfer today
MTCN 810 537 2166
Now you have to send the balance to him
I have attached a copy of the western union slip as guided
Thanks

The attachment is a text file with the same text as the letter.
At first I thought it's a genuine victim (and started to write a PM to the mods), but then I found it in the web. Doesn't look like a victim's mail anymore to me. But what is it then? |

Am I reading correctly if header Date: Mon, 7 Jan 1980?
I check - and it was indeed a Monday.
Maybe it was sent through the Bermuda Triangle?
Suggest Mulder and Scully.

It's a baiter ASEM but when I encountered it, the attachment was an executable file which I did not open.
Some people think it's amusing sending nasty payloads to lads
Edit: added the rolling eyes. |

...and this is one of many reasons why it isn't. An internet cafe owner gets his machines crippled too, and they aren't all complicit in the scams. |

And lads could pass it on to innocent victims who will spread it further.
There's no legitimate reason for sending malware. |

Thanks, I got it now.
Except for the reason to date it 1980 of course
And except for the reason to send me an ASEM, but I guess that might happen somehow. |
