Hi All! Just found your sight and I'm enjoying it very much. I appreciate everything all of you are doing!
Here's my question: I stumbled across the website for African Press International. The "Chief Editor" is a Nigerian named Sammy Korir. He claims to be in exile in Norway. He also claims to have a damaging recording of a telephone call from Michelle Obama as well as a Kenyan birth certificate of Barack Obama. Whether he does or not, I really don't care and this post is NOT political in any way.
He talks (posts) very similar to the scams I see here. To date, he has not produced any proof of any of his claims for over a month now, and always seems to run into nearly unbelievable problems in fulfilling his promises - from fires, to sabatage, conspiracies, etc. Sound familiar? Haha~
I've been watching the website and comments, and haven't witnessed him asking for anything monetary from his faithful followers. I can't figure out what his angle or goal is.
Why would he be running what appears for all intents and purposes to be a textbook Nigerian scam, without asking for money?
Has anyone run across something like this before? Any ideas? Thoughts? Thanks! |

Here is the current website. http://africanpress.wordpress.com/
He is in the process of transferring it from WordPress to www site. Any commenters that question him are banned. He also now moderates all comments and/or turns them off. He has scrubbed the website of most comments and previous articles. Note that all of the "reporters" pictures on the front page don't identify them by name. Maybe someone here would recognize them?
As I said, his wording when he comments is nearly identical to the lads I've seen here on the site. He also mentions in the comments, and the commentors state so also, that he calls them and emails them personally. He does have an email address there that he can be reached at. I have never participated, I'm just watching.
Strange. |

Sounds like some paranoid conspiracy nut, but nothing lad-ish. If he hasn't hit you up for money by now, I'd say with 99% certainty he's just an attention-whore. |

I think it would be a great idea for a new scam. I wonder how much he would take for those recordings?
I want to buy them |

That's kinda what I was thinking too. It's interesting to follow all of his stalls, issues with coming through with his promises, and broken deadlines. What is sad is his faithful followers that believe everything outrageous he comes up with to break his promises.
It reminds me of the scams I see here.
Thanks for your replies! |

Then again, there's millions of people who would love to see a Kenyan birth certificate for Obama and recordings such as those that he claims to have. Those same people want to believe that fantasy and probably would pay money to get that out there if it did exist. So yes, there is a possible scam running there, but I'm sticking to my guess that he's just wackjob.

Some of his claims include people offering him money for the tape, including Obama's campaign manager offering him $3M. Again, he has never provided a shred of evidence of his claims. Which makes me think that the suggestion he is an attention-whore is probably right. |
