Just came across an issue that I can't seem to get around. I've never actually heard of this until today. Had one of the workers at the office tell me his keyboard was locked. He had leaned on the shift key and the keyboard locked. I got him up and going again by re-booting the system. Don't want to have to do that every time someone locks theirs however. Anyone know how to unlock a keyboard after it's locked this way? |

Ahh, my #1 pet peeve with Windows. It goes like this: You press a key down and hold it, and after a while the system thinks that you are an invalid and unable to write. So Windows gives you a wonderful dialog.
The english version is rather clear (cough). It's worse in some other languages.
Users don't read dialogs, so their first reaction to a surprising dialog window is to click Ok. Generally speaking you don't want this option turned on. So when this dialogue appears, you must click something else than OK.
And there's another wonderful catch. User can change the StickyKeys on, but to disable it, Administrator privileges are required. This drove me to screaming fits at my university.
You can find the setting at Control Panel > Accessibility Options, under the Keyboard tab.

StickyKeys is for invalids, the other two options are related to cats on keyboards. |
