She should at least return the money she stole but I guess that would be too much like common sense.

A woman who duped a man she had met online into giving her $18,000 for cosmetic surgery walked free from court today.

Jaimi Carlin, 30, sobbed and hyperventilated in the dock as judge Barbara Cottrell told her she had been callous and calculating when she told her victim that she needed the money for cancer treatment. Carlin was sentenced to 20 months in jail, wholly suspended for two years.

The County Court heard that Carlin and her victim, known as AB, met on the online Adult Match Maker website. She told him she had ovarian cancer and needed the money for hospital expenses.

AB deposited $18,000 into her bank account but when he asked her to have a physical relationship with him, she told him she would tell his wife and family that they were having an affair.

Carlin pleaded guilty to one count of obtaining property by deception and one count of blackmail.

Too bad she isn't being punished but I don't have a lot of sympathy for guy who is married but is going on-line to find sex partners.

She only got out of jail time because she told the court no-one else could look after her 8 year old daughter.
I hope she grows up to know why mummy looks so attractive.

PS The Age story only tells half the story, he actually gave her another $17k, making it $35 in total, before she asked for $50k, at which point he involved the cops.

If she walked into a bank and pinched 35k off the counter I bet they'd find a way to look after the kiddie while mummy 'went on a little holiday'.

Any chance the guy could sue her and get a judgment? Not sure how the courts work down there but I can't imagine why, since she was found guilty, she was not ordered to make retribution.

Oh, I didn't think she had any but at least with a judgment hanging over her head, she would be miserable for quite some time. Here, those never go away.

Let's see....court let her off yesterday so she has probably been out all night on King St knocking back the Vodka Cruisers. By now is probably at Crown Casino consoling herself in the gaming room with the money from several of her welfare identities.

8 year old is probably at home alone watching Hanna Montana and playing Playstation. The sad lonely mugus will be lining up on Lavalife for when she gets home.

What a sad and lonely tale for everyone involved.

Can they not have the goods purchased with stolen funds repossessed, I dont know how much good they will be for anything but at least he will have the satisfaction of knowing that she doesn't have them Wink

That's so sad ... Tr1kst3r is going after the bank account of a lass who sent a list of expenses she needed to live on for 3 months --

3k for internet
2k for food
2k for misc.

Found it interesting that internet access is 1k a month...

Told her that WU lost so many of his payments, he has a lawsuit against them...going for that bank account info Wink

He's been good at that - I think he has 3 piggy banks now (in 2 months)

I sure wish I had 7k to live on for 3 months Razz
