Calls for needle exchange in prisons
FIGURES showing nearly half of prison inmates are infected with hepatitis C have sparked renewed calls for needle exchange programs to be trialled in Australian jails.

found this while looking at the weather (for fffffff sack *****####makes my blood boil what the fff are they doing with drugs in jail .lock them in there sells and dry them out . sorry but as far as im conserned the other idea is to give them what they want all in one big needle so it kills them saves all the heart ak and pain from the family going on for years and years we all have choises .

This is only my opinion what do others think

What you can't control, you support. Why do you think they have needle exchange? Then you know who is taking and then work your way back. Plus it makes more sense then having Hep C spread to others. You may be shocked to realise that a quite a few cases of Hep C infection aren't from drug use, but rape and intentional injections by other inmates as a way to scare and intimidate.

Also, even though this is general chat, this type of subject is one of opinions. When we allow that it usually goes downhill.

I'm always amazed at those little "needle dispenser" boxes in all the public toilets on the beach, parks, etc.

No comment on the other stuff.....

i did not mean to ask for other people opinions i am sorry for that i was very angry when i first wrote that . As i have fostered children of drug addicts and seen the hard ships that they have to climb to get any help from the govt but the drug addict parents get handed all the help but toss it aside for more drugs and yes N N i know all about what goes on in the jails and the rape victoms what help do they realy get ???
Master yes and down the back of toilets in pubs for the cleaners to get jabbed

Frankly the question about drugs in jails is completely out of control.
I had a mate who was a guard. One of his main duties was to stand outside the workshops, and make sure they had there boots on [as apposed to thongs ] when entering the workshop. If not he had to explain the rules and send them back to there cells for a change of footwear. he did that valuable job, 8 hours a day

With that sort of government logic anything's possible, As for drugs in jails, you will never stop it. It's a trading commodity. how do they get them in, according to my friend, you get a tennis ball, make a small cut in the thing, push the cut inwards, and fill the ball with drugs, then the cut section will go back into shape, Add a bit of glue, and throw the ball over the jail wall. Into waiting hands.

You have to be careful with all the revolutionary ideas Skyhook. Non-Aussie's find it hard to accept how civilised we are, and therefore better. Especially from those oppressive yanks and brits. Very Happy

several queensland hospitals have needle dispensing machines available after hours and needle dispensing services available in working hours.

the cost to provide the needles is alot less than the ongoing cost of treating a patient with Hep C or AIDS.

i can see both sides of the argument.

Actually it does,, for proof of this just look at the thread on Pitt Bulls,,
Many , many forums would have killed that at the very first thread.

But that did not happen, simply because it was considered that peoples opinions where important, and should be allowed to be heard.

It's not what you say, but the way you say it..

And all credit for allowing it to run it's course. no one got banned, bashed or banished

It's absolutely disgusting. If these people have a death wish, then let them. I don't understand the problem.

Dead prisoners = less tax money spent on prisons = more money spent on other ESSENTIALS i.e education

Prisoner = No human rights (in my world anway)

No ifs or buts, YOU choose whether you take drugs or not, and YOU have to deal with the consequences. No government scheme to get clean needles, no government funded rehab.

/rant. I won't be back here for a while! I hope I said that in a not too a provocative manner

That's what's different here. As long as it stays amicable there is no reason to do anything you suggested. No-one's going to get banned, bashed or banished. Not without a very good reason. The only reason a forum of this size survives is because we remove all content that usually incites. This thread in particular doesn't. I don't know of this Pit bulls, but considering our content on this entire forum, this thread is strawberry shortcake. Our role is to simply to remind others to keep it real, use common sense and abide by the forum guidelines. Then sometimes we pull thread just because...

I'd agree with you if I thought De System worked even halfway well. Governments may mean well, but the people who deliver the services are a combination of bored, corrupt, incompetent, careless and dishonest. So are people in any sphere of life, but being in public service they have a unique level of power to affect your life in bad ways.

In many ways, a national ID card would be a great idea, but only if you could trust the civil service not to abuse/lose/compromise/sell your data.

So, to return to the topic, not everyone who gets jabbed with a needle in prison is a death-seeking outlaw with no right to live.
