I want to impress Mrs Larb by buying her something nice, because its a year anniversary since she misscarried, I'm not looking for "Happy first anniversary" crap, I'm looking for something to say I'm always here and always supporting you.

Oh shes a pediatric nurse if that helps :S. I got her one of those nurse watches, so she don't need one.

I was thinking of a t-shirt with "I sent my money to Nigeria and all I got was this lousy t-shirt" but somehow it wouldn't work.

If you really must purchase something to go with it, simple cut flowers are always nice. (Stay away from silly pre-made arrangements).

Why not plant a tree in memory of the baby?
You dont need to do it personally, there's places that'll do it for you and send a certificate woodland trust

Not Necessarily a 'thing' but a memory

Take her somewhere nice for a couple of days. A nice bed and breakfast somewhere pretty. Take some photos and tell her during the trip how often you love her.

Make sure to get the photos developed and put at least one good one on the wall - - in a frame, yo.

Don't dwell on what might have been, if you really love and support her she should know anyway, but ok,

Why does it have to be an anniversary of a bad event to commemorate?

Why haven't you done this at some other time?

If you are going to make an anniversary out of a tragic event, with the (I presume) hope of another child, pick another time.

If you wish to remember what might have been, set that time aside, for rememberance or healing. Do not let a future child grow up with the shadow of a deceased sibling forever being there. Which is what will happen, if they are conceived while you are remembering a sad anniversary.

I agree that a few days away somewhere would be a nice thing to do... I also go with what Irish says, it doesn't need to be on the date itself.

I like to visit Brussels, it's a lovely place for a weekend break, I tend to go for about 4 days at a time, and all through December they have lovely Christmas markets. It's no more expensive than a UK short break. Your Eurostar train tickets can be quite cheap if you travel in the afternoon, (about £55 per person return) www.eurostar.com and the train will whisk you there in 2 hours city centre to city centre... far better than flying. Grab yourself a cheap hotel deal through somewhere like www.expedia.co.uk

God no its not because of that, Its hard to say really, shes just been down, and I realised the month so I thought I'd do something moreso just to take her mind off things

Take her out for a nice meal, dont mention what its about. Act happy (even if you dont feel it)
Don't make a song and dance about it, just help her to concentrate on the present and future.

@FrankLarb, I'm sorry to hear what happened a year ago. Sad

Anniversaries of tragic events (especially the first anniversary) tend to bring with them a whole host of feelings. I'm glad to see you're not planning to dwell on the event but just to have a good time and let her know you love her (note, not "still love her" Wink

).

I always suggest a few days away at a nice B&B somewhere. That should make for a nice weekend.

My wife mis-carried last year and I agree with Irish. I wouldn't dwell on it.

As a present, why don't you do what I did? Get her pregnant again.
My wife is now expecting in 3 weeks time.

And you get to have some fun as well.

If you are considering Cornwall I know of a really good romantic boutique hotel a friend of mine stayed in a few weeks ago he said food was 5* and rooms had views along the cliffs and down to the sea - sent me pics and it was fab.
