i have stumbled across this site offering a good free piece of software but i am not too sure about it.

It is legit, I have used it and it works well. The free version will bug you every now and then to upgrade to the paid version, but other than that the free version is quite competent and does what it claims to do.

Edit: The only reason that I do not use it anymore is that I now have a separate laptop, running a Linux live CD, that I use to visit suspect sites.

Ah, application virtualization, or at least what they called it on that Symantec-event where I've seen a talk about this.

I pretty much like the idea, but so far didn't look into it at all. Also I guess it will make applications a lot more portable.

I've heard reasonable reports of it. If you want top notch virtualization then send the guys at VMware some of your greenbacks, their software is superb.
