What are the ethics here?

When you get a 419 email that gives a name and telephone number to call.

Is it ok to reply to another (different) 419 email and give that name and number as your contact details?

Just to mess with them and to get one scammer to call another scammer. If you don't have time to get involved personally, is it ok to mess with them like that?

It doesn't break any ethical rules or anything does it? I wouldn't have thought so, but I just thought I'd ask your thoughts on it anyway.

You have my blessing on that, keep the name and number so you can bug all your lads with that when their dollar gets chopped you just tel them, MrX phoned and told me to change the name and the phone him back right away with the MTCN Twisted Evil

lol. thanks Bill. I didn't think it could be wrong but it seems so.. sneaky somehow... and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable...

I just had 20 emails all in my a/c and I had no time to deal with them so I found a name and telephone number in one of them and I emailed it to the rest of them, all saying 'I'm interested, my name is XXXX XXX call me on XXXXX. But it was just the name and number of another scammer.

Then I just felt a bit wierd about telling lies... but it was all in a good cause I suppose...

A lad a few weeks ago somehow managed to bypass yah00's 'filters' and land in my personal (friends and family) inbox. Up until last night his number was sent out 500 times a day to other lads questioning their parentage, their love of goats and various other insults along with a 'please call me'. I think you can say most of my recent postings in the mass insult thread are because of his number.

My only ethical concern would be to make sure that the number that the lad calls is on the other side of the world. It would be unethical to not wake up another lad or make the call inexpensive.
I only have a K7 account so my lads get a little frustrated leaving me voice mails so I give them my Sat phone number to call. Its Daniel the love scammer's and perfect for progressing the bait. Daniel must use caller ID and will not answer an overseas call. If the lad calls ten times in a row, Daniel will pick up and tell them to not call again in a language or accent the lads cannot understand according to my lads. One thing I notice, Daniel does not pimp out his number quite as much as he had in the past.

Forwarding a lads contact number to other lads works well for me when I don't have the time to be doing a lot of baiting. There is the potnetial for a lot of agrivation for very little work. Cool

You will learn to lie and know that you are lying to liars. These people are the scum of the earth and it is for a good cause. The more we mess with them the less tiem they have to mess with real victims.

I am ok with the lying part. I did a major insult on a lad the other day that made me blush! I certainly couldn't even post it to the group!

But I got the reaction I wanted AND his bank account!

IMO it's entirely fine to give lads other lads' numbers, but it can cause problems for your baits - it can even kill a bait unless you have a good explanation: lad calls the number, finds another lad (or at best thinks you gave him a wrong number)....then what? of course there are ways to avoid this problem, but it can be a hassle if you're not careful.

Don't ever feel bad about lying to scammer's. Their logic and philosophy on life and business, especially their scam business, is so out of whack it's staggering. There is one thing we have that a scammer doesn't. It's called a conscience.

If a lad saw that the country code was the same as theirs (or at least same continent) they may not even bother calling it. Assuming you're joking or playing around. If the lad does bother calling the number you've given the conversation would be short and the lad would most likely drop you.

Half the lads in Nigeria (Canada, Holland and even England once in a blue moon!) use UK redirect numbers to make you believe they're in the UK in reality they could be here, there or almost any damn where!

The funny thing is that I sent the scammers name S4M C@rlton and his number to about 20 scammers and this morning I had 10 more scam emails - all addressed to S4m C@rlton!

So the fact that this person has contacted the scammer, saying that he's interested means that they must have marked him as gullible victim and passed his email address and details to other scammers I suppose?

Now that I know it's allowed I'm going to do it more often. Not with my actual baits, but just with scam emails that I don't have time to do any real work with. Very Happy

Don't think of it as lying, rather think of it as "creative truth-telling." If a Hollywood movie company decides to make a film about the life of person X, they might embelish things a bit. Think of it that way.

It's not only ethical, it's positively artistic.

As lads will not tend to call +234 (Nigeria) numbers for a victim who's supposed to be in the West/UK, use a free service like

These services cost a *fortune* to call - around 50p/min or more (say $1/min) from within the UK, waaaaay more from overseas. This is what we want. You can also set 'follow me' lists - you provide 5 (scammer) numbers, so if the first one stops answering, it goes on to annoy the next one, and so on. And all for free!

AFAIK the ethics here is, that everyone has his/her own bounderies and is responsible for his/her own actions to his/her own conscience. Apart from that, only a very few rules govern the place. #1 dont bring anything here that is illegal (this is a legal forum) and #2 the ITP rule. (Have I forgotten anything? Like to trolling, no flame wars ...?). As stringing lads together means to hazard a third party but not an innocent third party, this is very welcome here and even encouraged. Laughing

If the redirection phone service seems to much techy work for you, you can allways use the phone and fax numbers of the dutch and UK based lads to recycle them. Very Happy

Calling at any time and tell the lad "I am at the airport, where are you?" does very nice things, too - at least when the lad is out for diplomat meetings.

I need a new telephone number please if anyone has one? Apparently the telephone number that I've given them is not connecting. I don't know if that's true or not, but if I had a number that I knew was live, then I could pass that to them instead.

So if anyone has a live telephone number for their lad and would like him to get a few phone calls from other lads then I'd love to pass that number on to them.
