The name sounds funny, but what does it actually mean?

In a nutshell, it's convincing one scammer that another one stole the money from him. You can give one lad another lad's number, preferably one near him and let them fight it out.

What reason would the scammer think I sent the "fees" to another person?

Because another lad has hacked his email. It's a great way to instill fear and paranoia in them. Laughing

Yeah, it's a nice little modality. I have a few scripts and nasty pictures that are a cut and paste job. Takes maybe 15 seconds for me to do it and the mugu pain is priceless.

There is a great example of this going on right now in the "my lad wants to be a porn star" thread. The entire thread makes great reading, but the chop happened yesterday (Nov. 5). The lad thought he had money coming to him, but a bad guy swooped in and got it first. The bad guy chopped the lad's dolla. Or that's what the lad thinks, anyway! Twisted Evil

I'll check it out. do the lads use the term "dolla chop" as well?

Lads do use the word "chop" occasionally, but it's not as common as it used to be... they talk of "Chopping maga" which just means stealing from fools. I've not seen any use "Dollar chop" recently, though I believe it was used in the past.

I always make the lad believe that someone he knows well has passed on the 'victim' information to the dollar chopper, in preference to letting him believe he's been hacked. There's much more potential for lad/fellow lad suspicion, or even lad-on-lad punchups with that modality.

I find that it's best to use the Dollar chop on an established bait... it can really bring a flagging bait back to life in explosive fashion.

A Nigerian comedian called Nkem Owoh made a song about it that got to number one. I Go Chop Your Dollar

Lads apply the term to any dollar gained through 419 activity, but more so if it's lad-on-lad.

As a footnote, Nkem Owoh was subsequently arrested for taking part in advance fee scams. Strange when you consider he is well off by Nigerian standards.
