Is Scambaiting Dangerous?

I might want to start, but I am worried about my safety. Is there a way I can be assured or something to an extent?

Everyone has their own personal levels of comfort. I don't think scambaiting is dangerous at all. I take a bigger risk shaving every day.

If your concerned though there are many things you can do to bait safely. Others below me will tell you a few different things you can do like use Gmail but mainly just use common sense.

If I were you, I would request a mentor so you can get some one on one advice.

Dangerous? Why? This nice gentleman writes you a fairytale and you are polite enough to listen, add to his story, give it surprising turns and adventures and that all without revealing your true identity or any Real Life facts Laughing

He gets what he wants, minus the money of course, being polite is good, but it shouldn't cost you money, eh Wink

A mentor as suggested would be a good step.

I had the same concerns, I think most or many of us did, but as long as you have the other forum members and a mentor around you you should be fine.

As Bill said, never give out RL information and don't take anything personally because the Lad isn't really talking to you, he's just talking to a character that you've invented.

I've not even been doing it a month but thanks to my mentor and the lovely people of 419 Eater I'm not nervous at all now plus I'm enjoying myself and I think it's a worthwhile 'hobby' to have.

I'm almost as new as you are but you can pm me any time and you'll probably have many of the questions that I also had only a week or two ago myself and got answers and advice from people here.

Read the posts in the Eater University too, and the Scam baiting stories that people have posted.

Welcome - as well as reading baits, read the Stickies and FAQs which contain the answers to a lot of the questions you probably have about baiting safely and other basic information about how to get started. If you follow those guidelines you won't need to be concerned.

Yes, baiting is very dangerous! For your spare time and also it can get you in trouble with your wife if you waste so much time with your new friends...

Minester, I just started baiting as well so I'm not exactly an expert, but I feel I can say that nothing can happen to you if you don't actually give them any useful information. In fact, the goal is usually the opposite. Twisted Evil

If your going to take calls from fraud stars, get a seperate cell phone.

The sole purpose of this phone is to receive calls from mugu's.
