Real people in most cases, they just mass mail to address lists that they have purchased or stolen. |

Well, you may have some lads who use software to target a bunch of potential victims at a time, but I guess that it's mostly the lads sending out their crap by themselves.
Anyway, it doesn't make a difference to us as after the initial mail has been sent the lad needs to do stuff himself anyway when replies start trickling in.
Although they follow scripts often enough those scripts get edited a bit in order to slightly adjust them to the situation.
But of course you also see it often enough that your text is completely disregarded and the next mail got nothing to do with this. This, though, I have mostly experienced with vlads. |

So its real pople most of the time... but in some cases if they are even bots, when you reply to them it will be a real person? is this correct? |

Well, you cannot say that it has to be correct in all cases, but pretty sure in most cases.

Yes. The lad will then spend his time sifting through all the replies and picking those that look like potential victims.
He's known in our circle as the "Catcher".
Quite often, you'll see a different email address for your reply than the original incoming one. This is because the lad who mass-mails then passes his work onto the catcher. It's also sometimes so the bounces that he will inevitably get don't clog up his in-box. |
