I was in the states in 2004 and saw a few TV commercials for internet providers and monthly plans being offered. Is it true in the states/UK you have no such thing as a 'download limit' - I'm just curious to see how backwards we are in Australia and how much we're getting ripped off.

I'm paying $90 AUD/month for ADSL2 (includes home phone unlimited local calls) - 7 gig download limit a month.

I have a 15Gb download limit, after that I pay £0.60 per gig, so I can dowload all I want if I pay for it. I think it costs about £21 per month at the moment, unlimited is £24.99 per month.

I may upgrade to the unlimited plan, then I don't have to worry about it.

I am in the states. I have dial up (slow) $20/month. I can down load 24/7 if I want to. In the summer we are online 100 to 125 hours/month, in the winter it goes up to 150 to 175 hours/month. 3 people

Verizon FiOs @ 60 something bucks. 20 down 5 up no download limit.

Our broadband comes as part of a package deal.
Cable TV with V+ box ( inc sports channels , unlimited landline phone calls, broadband and a deal with daughters mobile
Unlimited downloads so far
Virgin

Just under £100 a month
We're running 5 laptops in the house now
The tv package is bigger than I'd like but the boys want the sports Rolling Eyes

Around 90$ for Broadband with a 20Gig limit per month, and 40bonus gigs between 12midnight and 12noon. That's with Optus "Yes" Data.

unlimited downloading here I have Comcast at home and useally running at about 17 to 20 Mbs and Ill download sometimes in excess of 30-40 gig a month. 50.00 USD mo.

£26 a month including line rental and cheap phone calls. 8Mbs, download unlimited.

Comcast here too. They will throttle your speed if you repeatedly download over a certain amount of data but I haven't had it happen to me, yet. *crosses fingers*

Sir Scam. the trick is dont use their modem. go by a linksys one but not the one that sez for comcast. the ones for comcast has filters to limit you on speed and they can throttle you back. the non for comcast one they cant. Ive got warned by them a few times because of my DL speed when I had powerboost. I was getting speeds WAY up there. all they could do is take the powerboost away to try and control my DL speed. Laughing

^^be careful, from what I've heard of Comcast (all bad) they can and will throttle and shape your traffic on their servers, doesn't matter what modem you use. Apparently they especially loathe torrrents, much like every other ISP.

You'll all laugh about my connection, but it comes with a great view and no neighbors for miles. Speed promised 1500 kb/sec. I have a download limit but not enough patience to get there Wink

Average speed ± 1250kb/s
And that for $42 Canadian per month and such an improvement from a phone line with a modem that loses connection at least once a minute.
Yep "forty plum" is great living, but forget the normal hookups even the electrical power drops to zero for an hour or two at least once or twice a month and after every thunderstorm.
And I still think I made the right choice buying my home here. Laughing

no listed maximum download limit and no warnings received (at least not yet) after 3 years Smile

and I have used it heavily at times, occasionally at capacity for 24/7 for a couple of weeks every couple of months with occasionally up to 6 systems connected through local LAN

Service is through AT&T - US$30.00 Per month (actually it's part of a package deal for phone service with unlimited nationwide calling & other services for a total $96.35 monthly)

8mb down and 1mb up

no limit downloads

download between 40 - 100gb a month depending on time of year

ADSL 3 Mb/sec 512 kb/sec ,no data limit € 25,-- a month. It says no data limit but they do slow the connection when you download too much

i am in the prairies and my deal is $72 a month for unlimited internet,no fair usage policy,100mb service and all my local and north america phone calls free.

back in the UK i was paying £25 a month for unlimited internet but did have a fair useage policy and local evening/weekend calls free.

Mine is similar to that of Bill2. About 1250 kb/sec d/l for $30/month. It works off of an antenna on my roof. No d/l limit.

BTW, Comcast got in a jam with the govt. a while back for blocking pier to pier programs. I can't find the article but it should keep them from blocking d/l bandwidth.

Cable modem, varies between 6 and 10 M/s and $43 -$54. I change the plan to the higher speed when the kids are in town. No download limit.

I set my parents up with DSL. Its $34/month for the second 6 months after a 6 months of free for an annual contract. It runs 1.5 M/s also with no limit.

Here practically all ISP's dropped the 'fair use policy'. ADSL2, Unlimited download @EUR 40/M, 8 mbit down, 1 mbit up. (can be done a lot cheaper too, but I chose a reliable provider)

I pay $25 a month with around 3M/s download. There is no limit.
