Do these lads buy these letters? Is there a network out there of suppliers of email addresses and letters that they use? Where do they get scripts from?

They don't buy scam letters -- they either take them from the internet or they are shared among their confederation of fellow scammers. Sometimes an oga will pass them out with instructions how to play and who to then pass along the "live" victims to.

Email addresses are often bought or harvested using bots.

It is obvious most of them are not written by most lads as they certainly are too stupid to is come up with this stuff on their own.

Thinking all scammers are stupid is a common misconception. There are quite a few intelligent, well educated scammers out there who do write their own formats and bastardise others to suit their scam. I'm not a lad-hugger, I just never underestimate the enemy.

Also don't confuse stupidity with laziness. They are far too successful to deprecate.

Actually you are very right. My lad has done his research. His scam is to sell unsuspecting buyers Parrot Eggs for hugely discounted prices. He knows which are the most sought after, expensive and knows the materials that are needed to get them to me.

He has obviously done some research (probably more by necessity with all the questions he would have been asked by previous victims).

He even offers to include a cd and training book with your order!

@pablo I've had a few of those. Sometimes if you look in the source, though, they turn out to be malformed HTML with no text alternative, that can't be displayed in the mail client.

Often true, in this case the message was empty. It did have header problems that the spam filter caught.

While looking for something else I found this gem which might qualify as the shortest scam message. It too had no body

Is it possible that the shorter emails are from lads who are trying to bypass spam filters and land in directly in the intended victim in-box? They have better chance of getting through by sending something short, rather than usual long winded novellas.

I've also received emails with .doc or .txt attachements attachments in the past, where the entire scam was in the attached file.
