The younger son caught this fine specimen off of the dock earlier this spring.
Edit: Another nice one caught by the boy later in the summer.

we dont get either of them in AU.
(we do have a salt water variety of pike)
I hear the pike can grow pretty big and put up a good fight. |

They can get up to 25+ pounds, but Northrens that size are getting increasingly rare. On our lake the largest we have caught have been in the 10-12 pound range with 4-8 pounds being the average. They do put up a nice fight and the kids really enjoy catching them.
Edit: Here is a nice one a friend caught a few winters ago.

I never fished again after they spoiled me here and I wasn't even there for the fishing, but for some carpenter work 
40" pike is nothing, caught a 38", the biggest I ever caught from the dock out front one morning, they all laughed and told me to throw back that baby.
I got tired of walleye fishing, you can catch as many as you want, drop in clean hook, set hook, pull up, unhook, drop fish, repeat.
It's more fun watching the bald eagles while they're fishing.
A bit pricey but certainly worth the trip once in a life time. It changed hands since or I would work there every Summer, naaah work |

Can't fish much from a speedboat, although I try when the kids aren't there.
I know nothing technical or that, I just kinda throw it in the water  |
