This morning's local rag reports (paraphrased to avoid Google evilness) that 419 letters are being mailed to houses in a fresh round of lotto scams. They want your personal info, including bank details, before they'll cough up, and they tell you not to tell anyone about your winnings.

The police have put up signs all over town, so it's not a huge problem... but is it just around here, or has this been happening elsewhere recently?

I received one a few years ago via snail mail ... And to be honestly true, I really can't understand why anyone would fall for a scam like that. Rolling Eyes

There were some real obvious mistakes in the letter and on the envelope, so I knew it was a scam straight away.
Very Happy

All I did was laugh about it and keep the letter and supposed answering form in an album to show my grandchildren ... (look what granny received, kids ...)
