Will we ever be truely happy? even if we reach all of our goals?

After Goals there are only dreams:-

Sometimes it is good to literise your dreams

My dream is to move out of london to a little beach somewhere, where (apart from a select few people) the nearest humans are at least a 30 minute boat journey away.

With a simple little self built house, living in equalibrium with the environment.

Lying in a hammock, on a hot white sandy beach in the shade of a palm tree, with Marley on the radio, my little outboard moored in the blue water a stones throw from where I am lying (with my rods and gear preped and ready to go)

Lobsters grilling gently on the bbq and of course plenty of lovely fat exotic cigerettes, while carving elephants out of soft wood.

not to forget my small horse farm set back off the beach.

27 now (what age would i like to achieve this by?) 27.5. Smile

Also if you have had wierd dreams (nightmares) please feel free to post them on here too.

I've accomplished my goals, living my dreams and they have been simple. Wink

To marry a wonderful woman, watch our kids grow up, to some day spend time playing with our grandchildren. hold it.... I"m doing that now. I geuss I'll have to go to my back up dream of finishing my pro street pick up.

I can dream.

I'm pretty content as I am.

I'd love to have the money to buy each of my kids a place of their own but ultimately I'd like them to be happy whatever they do.

Oddly, given how unsettled my life has been over the last 6 months or so, when my mother asked me this question the other week, my honest answer was to me middle class.

I know it sounds awful, but the security of a home and 9-5 job will let me then have the time and comfort to decide what I want to do later in life.

My goal is to be useful and productive.

It would also be nice to be compensated for being useful and productive. I don't ask for much, but as a form of recognition of my usefulness and productivity, it could also help me save for a time when I am no longer able to be useful and productive.

Believe it or not, I'd like once again to be a tax-payer. I've been fortunate to have the benefits of public assistance, but now that I'm capable of performing work functions, I'd like the opportunity to pay some of that back.

Hmmmm....

I have a job that I'm good at and that pays me ok money (I don't enjoy it much but it's ok). I get plenty of time off and work from home most of the time. I never have to travel for work. I am liked and respected by my colleagues.
My family loves me and I love them.
I have a few close friends whose company I enjoy when we get together.
I have a couple of holidays a year and I usually get all the toys I want.
I owe nothing to anyone except for the mortgage; I have a nice house and a comfortable car.

I'd say I've sort of acheived what I want from life but it crept up on me, rather than it all happening one day.

I'd like to be 5 stone lighter though....

Last week I was invited to give a talk to the kids at my wife's school about African mountains and climbing them.

It made me realise that its fast approaching 10 years since my last climb, so my immediate goal is to get myself in shape, and tackle another mountain on the 10th anniversary..... Very Happy

Ultimate dream? Hmm. . . I won't necessarily know to what degree I've achieved it. I want to have made a difference in the lives of others by giving unconditional love and happiness to children, people knowing they can count on me for compassion and fairness, giving encouragement to people, comfort when people are sad and company when they're lonely. I like to go out of my way to listen to the chatty old lady at church who is happy just to smile at my young children, inviting my lonely neighbor in for coffee. I like to tell people nice things I notice about them, just because we often forget to. I hope that small gestures in my life have a positive impact on the lives of other people.

Once my term in the military is done, I plan to use my GI bill to attend college to become an electrical hardware engineer, while minoring in psychology or physics, and using my engineering knowledge, I plan to make my own proprietary software and hardware that rivals and outperforms that of Linux, Mac, Microsoft, Intel and AMD upon which I will use to build my corporate empire. Once I get there I plan to use my corporate power to correct some of the most underlying problems of society today, and build a good enough reputation to enter politics. Once in politics, I plan to strive forward till I reach the ultimate goal of President. I will be the first candidate in the history of mankind to be a third party elect. The main goal of my administration would be to build the economy, end poverty, get rid of the national debt, and make every citizen a productive member of society. Once both my terms are up, I will retire and become a physicist, and work to the day I die trying to better mankind.

Or I'll just get enough money to retire and play video games all day and mess with computers and my children's children.

I'm pretty happy with things as they are at the moment really.

I'm at a good age, I live in one of the world's great cities, I have some awesome friends, a great partner, I know some superb places where we all eat and drink, my job is constantly changing, morphing, and challenging, and I get paid a pretty big salary to put bad guys away.

What could make it better? Living on a barge or in a large flat on the Thames maybe... somewhere near Butler's Wharf. But that'll never happen, I can't afford London life as such. That's why I'm stuck where I am.

My future dream? I'm not sure, but at the moment it involves a mixture of living in Australia, Canada, New Zealand or London, if I can ever afford it.
