OK I'm an ignorant n00b, but are the Lads always so young? At least the pics they SEND seem to be quite young boys, or early 20s tops.
Are there no mature, grizzled, wizzened Lads? Even pics of older people might be more convincing if they are playing the part of Profs, Bishops, Senators, etc. |

You are correct in saying that the mojority of the lads are relatively young, but as you would imagine, they range in age, from as young as early teens to very old.
Not exactly sure why. It could be that older folks develop a sense of morality at some point. It could be that the younger folks are more comfortable with computers. It could also be that older folks are not stupid enough to fall for our baiting. I suppose that it could also be all of the above. |

In all seriousness, the life expectancy rate for Africans is simply horrible. Take a look.
For many of the African countries with which we are familiar as baiters, the average life expectancy for a man is his mid-forties. While we deal with scammers from many parts of the world, given that a serious chunk are from Africa, it's not surprising that most are young (e.g. in their 20s). |

JMR is right
The life expectancy in some countries, especially Africa is pretty poor relative to say the USA or the UK. That is probably why lads scam to get out of the poverty trap(without actually having to do an honest days work) and emigrate to countries where they have better scamming opportunities and the potential to live longer on relatively good money compared to their home country. |

Just a thought, I can't back this theory up with any hard evidence, but maybe like in any job there is a pecking order and the older members of a 419 cell are more likely to be at the top of the food chain. So, when it comes down to picking which member of a scam group is going to risk exposure by posing for a pic it is likely to fall to the new boy. |

I wonder then, the african lads living and scamming in the UK, maybe they are the ones who actually 'made it'? |

one of the stalling tactics seems to be about not being able to get to the WU office for various reasons.
do the lads not know that all we have to do is pick up the phone and put it on a credit card and zippadeedoodah cash is sent? I sent money to Costa Rica from my cel. |

Lads will stall on Wu if you don't send the MTCN, as they can check online as to whether or not you have actually sent it, so it saves them the hassle of getting off their seat at the HotBunk Internet and Fish bait cafe
As for any other form of money transfer, so long as all WU and MG require is the MTCN, why should they let themselves open to being found?
Not that being found in what ever country they are in is likely either

^^I mean on our end - the baiter stalling. I've read people saying things like car broke down, etc. to give excuses as to why they are delaying WU. |

Some lads seem to be aware that WU can be initiated over the net, but I have yet to see one that knows you can do it by phone. Most still seem to think you have to take cash to the WU or MG office.
And we're not going to disabuse them of that notion, are we? |
