Midnightdriver, 67 fairlane, nice car. i have a deep desire for a 64 Nova, but i've always liked old fords.

are you going for a numbers matching rebuild? a sleeper daily driver? I guess if I were to make a suggestion, I would recommend giving deep thought to what you want and do it the way you want it the first time round.

Now, if it were me, I would scrap the 289 and go big block. Now that i made that decision, I would go chevy power and drivetrain, only because of availability and cost of performance parts.

that would lead me to a 454, 2 speed powerglide and a 14 bolt rear. I would probably straight axle the front, I have always liked the look.

if for some reason I decided not to go with a big block, i would go 302 or 351.

just my .02.

i didn't mention most of the decisions i make are fueled by beer? because of beer I am currently building a backhalved and stretched jeep YJ, with a chevy 350 on propane, turbo 400, doubled 203/205 t-cases, rockwell axles (steerable front and rear) on 40" tires. Cool

i belive i am curently all original, on the numbers match thingy. have the tags on the engin where there suposed to be, and once i get the brakes blead,and new fuel tank, i could actualy drive the old girl around a bit. i havent driven it on the road yet, so have no clue what kind of power the 289 curently has. think im going to keep it a 289 and maby get new heads and a bigger cam.
If i decide after those modifications, that i still want more, ill just move that drive train into the 66 falcon i have in line for my wife, and build another for me:) but i think it will be worth more with original stuff.

Lovey put in new points and plugs and found that he needed to replace the vacuum advance. This should help the gas mileage.

Hi Corona,
Time to talk lovey into a electronic ignition system, bolt in, can always restore it back to original. That is what has been done to my old car, as it originally had a double set of points, now set up with a modern system for practical reasons. (Should help fuel mileage also)

I am still thinking about it. (the Polara, AFIK, not all 440 are Magnums) I put a 318 (Dodge) in a 1952 GMC Carry All (pre Suburban vehicle). Wish I still had it.

I do like many of the 60s vintage cars. I prefer "sleepers" to flash, though I like to look at the flashier cars. (Bet some thought I was going to say something else. Laughing )

i saw most of those clips while i was thinking of ideas, they are all cool. If mine wasnt original, ohh yea, big motet, lots of hosses. am going to tweak it a bit, and turn it up a bit, but stay with original moter.
