I believe most have honestly told you why they bait. The problem seems to be that you want their reasons to jive with what you think.

That is not what you are saying. You are asking us all to admit that we are motivated by your singular assumption about what our motives must be. That's crap. We all have different motives, in different degrees.

@DirtMcGirt. If you want to be taken seriously and if you want to know about the subject and be able to debate properly about it, then start baiting. Don't come with the "I'm too lazy" crap.

Bait and you'll find out why you're being laughed at. Then give it a couple of months and you'll wake up and smell the coffee and that sadistic streak will be gone because you'll have used it all up in a few days.

Also, to the person who used the pencil metaphor. Usually that metaphor is used for gun control, and it's just as flimsy in this case. When making a honest risk to reward analysis, of gun use or this website, you have to be honest about the risks as well as the rewards.

And really, I think that this site being a resource for scammers is a small risk, I just wanted it as food for thought for everyone who thinks this site does 100 percent good. There's a cost for every action, much less the morally murky waters of baiting.

I didn't mean to use sadism as a pejorative, just as a descriptive. You might take the word to be insulting, but it wasn't my intention.

I think I missed your nativity post... did it involve a manger and three wise men?

That's true, unless you have fallen upon hard times. You may think that baiters are teenagers who haven't tasted any real life. Anyhow, I do agree with you on human nature. We people commit horrible crimes. Baiting is one response to crime. It is not the only one and it is not the perfect one but it is a response (and it is fun Very Happy

And honestly, usually the baited scammers are not hurt at all by us. They just keep away from real victims for awile. In my opinion, it is good from all points of view.

Nobody said 100% of the people here are altruistic. You just assumed we all thought that and needed correcting. We can disagree about the cost/benefit analysis of the site, but even you would probably have to conceed the site has probably saved more people from being scammed than contributed to scamming.

It's hard to take it as having any other meaning but insulting. And I could add that your continued insistence upon it did you no favours. But whatever.

As stated, if you really want to know why we do what we do, probably the only way to get a good understanding is to do it yourself. I'm in danger of generalising here myself but there are lots of different perspectives and sadism isn't really in the majority. A person with a sadistic outlook would probably soon get bored at how tedious the vast majority of baiting actually can be.

Jojo and YW will tell you that they're sadists but that's only to make themselves look big when compared to me. In reality they're little girly shirtlifters who wept in misery all the way through their Chad bait.

And agian, there's a difference between providing a resource for educating about scams, and to shut down scamming websites, and with baiting. It's really the baiting itself that I think is morally murky. It's the scamming of the scammers, and actively trying to mentally, emotionally and physically hurt them that is the interesting thing on this website, it's the motivation for baiting, that I think people here are in denial about. I'm sorry if I painted too broad of a brush with some of my statements, I should have been more clear.
