Well, since the OP question is resolved, I'll pitch in with a comment about the secondary issue of moderation and policies...

I've been around the site for a bit, but have had some long gaps (too busy being wicked and cruel in real life to be able to punish lads, sadly)... which means I've gone through the 'feeling like a stranger' phase, catching up on what and who is new, and what the topic du jour is, feeling like everythings' changed and yet stayed the same!

I honestly can't see any differences between 'then' and 'now'. Different characters and personalities coming to the fore. And yes, some people toning down their personal input in favour of mod-like input (never thought I'd see the day, JMR!).

Yes there were times when we indulged in banter in PWT's - often risque, and always silly. But it was also moderated... there were odd PMs in the background which toned down temperature, they just didn't become an 'issue' on the public thread!!!

As others have said, this is a forum for baiting... not for flirting, match-making, religious discussion, political debate or generally getting crap off your chest and slanging people off. Twisted Evil

Just take the infamous Chad bait - we have religious intolerance and piss-taking, faking a church, obscene (to some) language, sex (or at least attempting) with underage girls, nekkid lad pics flying around, and god knows what other taboo subjects!!! None of it edited, as far as I know?

I will say this as part of the thread though. I've noticed it myself. Eater does have a different feel to it from how it used to be. The wave of mods lo longer being mods, people suddenly being banned, and what I can only describe as "The Office vs The Office USA" syndrome. It's the same, but at the same time it's not the same if that makes sense.

While I've been here during my three years, I've noticed a lot of "new" changes, and I've been targeted a few times and had posts removed. While one of my posts was removed and a lesson learned, the others were not that harsh and were in no way needed to be removed.

When new people views this forum, they do not know there way around and sometimes do not check the stickies and could feel out of place when a mod runs in and locks their first/second post with little explanation.

While this forum may seem very strict at times, I would not want to be put in a position where I have to control this big of a community, that's why communication is the key to the success of this forum between the admins and moderators and think up a good plan to let this flow smoothly. Trolls and pests will always be present here, just like in real life where you have ass-hats and stuck up people that you just can't deal with. You'll never get everyone to agree on one such thing with a community this big, it just won't happen.

If a post offends you, please PM that person in general because they can edit their post to suit the need of the public. If this does not work, that's when you get intervention with the moderators or admins.

Quickly to myself - I haven't posted or viewed for awhile but I do check up on a monthly basis to see what's been going on, and to keep Dirty Bawls in line. I may become active in a few months but who knows, maybe Nurse Nasty will give me a sleeping pill Sad

And you are correct. If you state something in public about your intent (or having actually done so) to break the rules at Eater, and we learn of it, we will act. We're protecting Eater and its membership, not looking to "spy" or play "Gotcha!". The means of communication is what is irrelevant to the issue; the conduct is very relevant.

If you were to tell your neighbor while standing on your lawn about your intent to blow up the local church, and a police officer happens to drive by and hear you, well tough luck.

A chatroom is not somehow a "protected" environment that immunizes anyone from anything. Not sure why this would come as a surprise to some people.
