That's 8th Tour de France. I just saw on the news he's coming out of retirement. This man is a true champion, I was always suspicious of men in lycra, but Lance sure did change my opinion. Surviving cancer and then going on to win one of the most gruelling cycle races ever 7 times in a row..
I'm not a gambling man but i'll definitely put a few yoyos on him to win, any winnings will go to local cancer charities.

Sam, why not make it a condition of the bet that the other guy has to donate, too? That way, everybody wins. Smile

Not that I think Lance won't win -- the grit and determination of the man impresses me. If he thinks he can do it, then I believe he can.

Come on. You don't win such races without some chemical help...

Reminds me of Jeanni Longo, who is still one of the greatest female racing cyclist at 50. Man I'd directly use her blood in my car, no more oil problems Wink

Lance has been tested and tested and tested. Nothing found. The only time anything was found the B sample came back clean and the lab that did the test was found to have such sloppy procedures that tap water probably would have come back as dirty.

Thank you. I'm going to have a chat with the bookies about it. He won't be racing until next year so I'll be trying Paddy Powers, a bookie who'll bet on anything! so hopefully I can work something out.
I would appreciate some suggestions from those who know how to gamble as I haven't got a clue. First and last time I went betting on the nags I lost the cost of 3 days eating Crying or Very sad

@ accusations of doping...... Release that sheee-iiittt into the atmosphere whatever it is!

On the subject of doping, and Lance Armstrong not getting caught in particular .... lets remember that such greats as Richard Virenque (7 times king of the mountains), Bjarne Riise (96 tour winner), Marco Pantani (98 tour winner) were all caught by drug tests AFTER they competed. Drug tests in cycling are a constant uphill battle for the testers. There is still no test that certifies cyclists as "clear" or otherwise... it's just not as simple as that.

Pantani (with dozens of other riders) skirted around the Hematocrit issue for years... constantly (apparently) proving the testers wrong.... until better technology saw through him.
EPO has long been just as difficult to prove. As long as the atheletes and their doctors come up with a way to dope, they have a year or so on the scientists looking to discredit the dopers.

I look up to Armstrong with a caveat...
I loved cycling as a kid, a teenager and as an adult. I competed. I was a huge fan of the TDF, then the drugs cheats destroyed the sport. How can you still love a sport when you know that half the protagonists are being helped by EPO?
What he achieved was amazing. But what I've seen in cycling before him was also amazing. I'm just hoping I'm not being cheated yet again by someone who is ahead of the official chemists in the sport.

True, you cannot prove a negative. That is why I like the Olympics having the option of not only taking an A and B sample, but a C and D as well. The C and D are stored for future testing if a new test comes out. Michael Phelps insisted on having this done and has said if there is a future "find" that swimmers were doping with X chemical and we FINALLY have a test for it, to go ahead and test his C and D samples.

Hopefully Lance has/will agree to a similar set up.
