Today, I received a notice in the post stating I may be entitled to a refund on fuel surcharges with British Airways and Virgin Atlantic for longhaul flights between Aug 2004 and March 2006.
The notice was from the class action lawsuit, filed in federal court in the U.S., it claims that BA and virgin Atlantic unlawfully conspired to fix prices of fuel surcharges imposed on long-haul passenger fares, and as a result caused harm to consumers.
In a way, I'm thinking it could be genuine because I have travelled with VS on a long haul-flight during the specified dates and the notice was addressed in my given full name as indicated in my passport, which I would only put down when I'm travelling.
I can't think how they would of got hold of my full name as I'm usually known by my middle name.
Is this a scam? Claims can be made online and details can be found on the website:
https://www.airpassengerrefund.co.uk/
Has anyone heard of this??
Thanks!

For starters any financial organization knows about scammers and how they work, so they will never use email to send personal information.
I always board planes with my email account
Now to check it, do you have the whole email including the header?
That should tell you where the email came from. If.. just post it here and we'll help you figure that one out.
The mentioned website doesn't ring any bells on my machine, but the relevant info.

seems okay to me, but wait until the pro's get here.
If I would react I would contact them by phone and ask them to use the normal snail mail to contact me. Their phone seems okay 800-043-0343 and free.
EDIT:
Sorry I didn't notice you being new here, WELCOME here and read a bit, several other members with actual real knowledge on this subject will jump in here during the day and give their professional opinion.
Have fun and stay safe |

Thanks!
I have just phoned the number and it's a automated information line.
I'm afraid I don't have the header because I didn't receive the notice by email, it was by post. |

Sorry again, I'm stupid, assuming post=email. As B.A. said ^, careful and common sense go a long way, but it doesn't seem to be a scam from what we have here.
Eh, you can still play with us though, we do have a few real scammers left
Let us know if.... and we help you to get going SAFE. It's fun, educational and for a good cause and I must add that's addicting to |

WELCOME
We have some rules and some things to make it easy to do this game SAFE, risks are minimum, but like riding a bike, you got to know some things.
We have a free Mentor service to help you with the first steps and who will try to set you up safe so no emails lead to Real Life (RL) info of you or others, Innocent Third Parties (ITP) and later when you're in a pinch, they can help as they "know" your game plans.
Read, read and read a bit more especially the "stickies" have good info on how to.... You can request a Mentor here http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=122306&start=325 as it can take awhile for them to arrive they made this linky something to read while you're waiting for your mentor
If you have any questions, don't hesitate, PW's like me answer most questions or know who should be informed
Have FUN and Bait SAFE |
