I think the BBC should have gone that bit further and explained the workings of 419. Their site gets millions of hits a day and they don't link to any sites like scamwarners, although they do have a link on how to spot counterfeit goods. WTF? I despair. Crying or Very sad

^^^I think that is a very good idea indeed. IMO The BBC reported half the story and stood back without giving potential victims info. on 419 links to prevent such things happening. Problem is not all older people are computer savvy. However, their children are.

I also sent a comment to the thinkjessica site, as there was nothing useful on their links page. I suggested scamwarners.com and outlined what it does. the site seems to focus on snailmail, there is no obvious warning that the same crap comes via email as well.

I sent something similar to the BBC suggesting a link, but don't hold your breath.

I also posted a comment asking them to point a link to scamwarners and advising this kind of crap comes via e-mail as well. Also thanked them for warning people.

As for the BBC yeah, even a link to that thinkjessica site would have been helpful.

This boiled my blood quite a lot because I have met face-to-face with such "White Zimbabwean farmers" who have told me stories of how they have had to sit and watch their daughter (some not even 13) get gang-raped at every checkpoint on the way to the border just to be allowed to escape with their lives.

The fact that these scammers are capitalizing on that is just disgusting.
