You send a RL e-mail with an attachment, but when the recipient e-mails back that you forgot the attachment your natural instinct is to slap them and then attach a renamed dll!

Yes I did forget the attachment and yes I hit reply with the intent to tell them it must be their fault somehow before I realized wait, this is RL I probably forgot the attachment as usual.

*sigh* maybe time to take a day or too off from baiting?

While I'm here, here's one example of how I've been affected:

My siblings have joined Facebook and are trying to get me to join. I refuse, because I won't register with anything online with my real name.

My husband talks to strangers on the phone for his work; he told me yesterday that he was talking to someone about our daughter, and knowing that this person knows his real full name, I got all frantic and almost told him not to ever tell people any real information.
Then I realized, he's not dealing with scammers. Laughing

Same problem here The Man, and I've point blank refused to join any so called 'business social networks' even though my boss thinks I'm paranoid.

^^ Just make a good separation between game and RL
I use a different IP# on a different computer to bait and this one for fun. Another one for RL banking and a few more just to goof around and try things out. Three will start from a CD in a none burning CD drive, so they are most likely to be clean when just started.
I have never used a credit card online and refuse things like Paypall so when searching for my own name, phone and address I don't find much.
And for the house goes "Visitors Welcome, dogs and guns always handy"
I sleep very well. Laughing

Lately I'm a bit aggressive when unknown callers phone from strange numbers, I tell them to get lost or let the answering machine handle it. Rolling Eyes

A colleague from an Asian country (I won't name for personal reasons) I just hired had to send me an official document from the French authorities before he could come to work.
Basically a scanned work permit.

I was like, this is the most amazing fake document I have ever seen! I can't even find out where it was photoshoped! Shocked

One second, this is real life ?!

The other day I received an email from a very sweet lady that has volunteered her time to be president of my son's High School Soccer team. The email said that the roster was attached. Of course, there was no roster attached.

I was halfway to ripping her a new one when the "what the f am I doing" moment hit.

Baiting can be dangerous to your social life.

I, too, smile when I see "419" anywhere, and I have to concentrate to remember which name to use whenever I sign emails. The head guy at work persists in using the word "modalities" - he's doing it more and more often, so either he just likes to hear me laugh, or he's baiting me. Very Happy

I've actually signed by baiting name to real e-mails, and almost given out my k7 number to business contacts. I've always been impatient when dealing with bankers and lawyers, but at least now I enjoy communicating with them.

I actually baited banks and lawyers before I knew what baiting was, but life at Eater has made me much much better at it!

I have a vehicle that has OGA as part of the license plate. It makes me grin. Very Happy

It isn't a vanity plate, it was just issued that way.

I thought about using it as my avatar, but it would reveal too much information (and I like my alien). Cool

I got the creeps today when a newspaper delivery distribution center asked for my son's passport and bank pass scan today, because he's going to start a paper round. Still in doubt .. do I send them a renamed dll ?? .. Smile

I've not even been baiting that long and I've already done a baiter goof!

I normally stay signed in with my RL gmail account, so I'm accustomed to having it there in a tab somewhere when needing to email, etc.

The other day, I was bored and thought I'd make up another fake email for baiting (hey, you never know when you might need one), with the name Ima. P. Brain.

Anyyyyyyyways... It suddenly occurred to me that I needed to email a document to my supervisor.

In my frantic hurry to send it, completely forgetting that I hadn't signed out of Ima. P. Brain, I composed a new email, attached my document and hit send.

Oh my face when it dawned on me... Embarassed

Luckily she has a good sense of humour!
