WARNING: This email account is being used by an internet scammer! DO NOT send this criminal any personal information and certainly don't send him any money. He does not have access to the vast sums of money he has told you about - his intention is to ask you for fees in advance which he will then keep.
Many people fall victim to 419 advance fee fraud - don't be one of them. For more information, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/419_fraud or type 419 fraud into a search engine such as Google. |

SOmeone has hacked into it, and left that as a response to any incoming.
It does happen. |

Predend you didn't get it and go on with your bait.
irishemigrant,
I've never gotten a lads paasword but why shouldn't we send this kind of note if we did the get access
Soundlike a good thing to me to warn off real victims but I'm guessing I'm missing something. Is it becasue it is stepping over the mark and performing a criminal act? |

The lad will just change his email account as soon as he realises, then we lose track of him, and anyone baiting him will lose contact as well, as the lad will suspect everyone he was dealing with.
Hacking isn't condoned by Eater, if you do get access to a lads box, follow the book, and notify a Mod. |

We've seen this type of thing before. As stated. The lad just makes another account and moves on. Unless he has a rather well paying victim on the hook the lad doesn't care. He just starts afresh. If he's any good, and they are, they just contact their victim from another account and lies his way around to get back in their good graces. Really quite a pointless effort in doing this.
Anyway. Discussing actual hacking is not condoned, so carry on. |

I have had this happening, and lads just keep going like nothing happened. Just pretend you received nothing. Even though we here are very much against hacking (it's illegal) it does happen sometimes. Just ignore it and keep going. Don't mention anything to your lad. |

How is warning victims of a potential scam stupid? |

as mentioned above a couple of times,
Quote: |
lads just keep going like nothing happened |
They can switch over to a new box with hardly any hassle (maybe some kind of dodgy excuse, for example "an unscrupulous former employee is trying to break this deal" - I've heard this one in a very similar situation) and keep right on going with their previous contacts. Unless they are total amateurs they will keep copies of their important records elsewhere - it's always a risk that their accounts will be closed etc.
A one-off kind of message like this may be well-intentioned, but from what i've seen over at victim support sites like ScamWarners and others, many victims require careful, active support and a level of explanation that a brief warning like the one above doesn't really deliver. |

Warning a potential victim isn't stupid.
Hacking, Social Engineering, or otherwise illegally obtaining access to a scammer's box and then sending a warning from that box is stupid, and the nitwits who do that clearly have little or no understanding of cause and effect.
Why should a potential victim, who most likely already believes the scam to begin with, believe some stranger who has clearly and illegally obtained access to the lad's account and sent a warning from it?
The lad merely has to tell the victim that his box was hijacked and continue scamming the victim from another account.
This, in turn, just makes it more difficult for warners who actually know what they are doing, since any future warnings will be looked at by the victim with even more suspicion. |
