Greetings fellow Scambaiters!

I have a question: should the posts about 5imb@ be visible on Google? I do not think it does us any good if one of the targets tries to google for it...
Google has found a few posts, e.g.

Should I do nothing, PM the poster to correct the name or report the post to the Moderator?

Thanks for pointing it out. I'm sure Simba doesn't want it showing up.

I've obfuscated the name on the first thread you linked to. The second one is quite long (7 pages) so I will ask Simba to take a look at it.

I have found them googling for "5imb@ 5@f@ri C@mp" (without the obfuscation, of course) Smile

^^ can't actually remove it but for the actual s4fari site itself, you can open a new text document, put in:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /nospider.htm

and save as: robots.txt

put into the website root file and google and any other engine will no longer index the site.
As long as all references on 419eater are masked then the next time google indexes the site the links to S1mbas site should be dropped.

Simba is currently away, so I have gone through the second thread and obfuscated all references.

I don't think Simba would want the entire site to drop from Google would he? I mean if a lad google's it he would want the site itsself to hit.

Now the references here of course not so much.

^Interestingly when I searched for it (5imba 5afari) I got a whole mess of 5imba 5afari sites; many small operators by that name. 5imba chose the name well. Very Happy

To find it on Google, use >>"5imb@ 5@f@ri C@mp"<< (whole phrase in quotes) and click on "repeat the search with the omitted results included."

Most of them are already corrected though - excellent job, Moderators!

Just googling the SSC name without any advanced features brings up a lot of references. Our 5imba's site wasn't in the first two pages, nor was anything from Eater. Using "Group" gets the site.

@MuguHammer - I agree w/ ^Titaina... I get the same results & as I had previously stated, the first page of results is full of "mom&pop" one-off outfits that share a close variant of the name.

Also I am not too tech savvy, but I don't understand why we should care about search results for "5imb@ 5@f@ri C@mp". Could you please explain that for those of us that are challenged?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that this site is blocked for Nigerian IP. Google makes a cached copy of a page, available to anyone.

juju4u - I fully agree - this is not very important but still...
If our pets try that, they will see a few sites with 5imb@ and 5@fari. This MIGHT get them assured that 5imb@ really exists and it is an excellent place to visit (which it is - for us Twisted Evil

).

If we can help a single baiter get his hat because a single lad will look for it - I think it will be worth all the trouble.

Moreover, 90% is done so obfuscating the rest will be at most 5 minute job - it will not hurt anything and it is (theoretically) possible that it helps.

I did a quick google ion the name as written with the '@' etc.

I only got references back to this particular thread.
Without the cover up, by putting in the actual name I got to page 7 and didn't find any references to this site, I gave up as my attention span expired. I can't see a lad really wanting to spend that much time trudging through page after page to track it down.

Most of the time the baiter gives the lad the exact site name, so he just clicks on it or types it in and goes straight to the site. (And I see that the site is professional-looking enough to fool a gullible lad, but just enough typos to make a curious ITP uneasy about contacting them.)

One doesn't need to obfuscate so much - a simple "five-imba" (5imba) should do nicely. (Sorry - my text-reader gets tongue-tied with too much obfuscation.)

I believe that is incorrect. Not all Nigerians are scammers and not all scammers are in Nigeria.

I just did a google search for and got to page 11 before there was a hit.
