I've seen nonsense like this in spam mails before, but then it's always accompanying more sensible text, usually with some link to click or some clear message about what to reply about. But there's nothing like that here... so what's the purpose of this spam?

I think it is to get round the spam filters and see if your addy is active. There again what do I know, all I get are the Viagra ones and the you know what extension cream, which doesn't work.

At times these are mixed plain text/html emails, with the nonsense in plain text and the ad in html. I check multiple email addresses at the same time, sometimes using different clients, and have noticed that at times the html portion doesn't load, sometimes due to the message, other times due to your email settings, so it looks like it's just the nonsense text.

I'm guessing that it is any old cr@p to bypass spam filters-if they don't get a bounce-your email gets added to the 'email addies for sale' pile.

Hi wandered into this forum after reading a load of 419eater stories ... wonderful stuff.

Anyway just to make you aware the standard trick to check that an email has beem opened is to use a 1 x1 pixel jpeg that needs to be downloaded when opened. this will then trigger a response that is registered at the host. Of course this genearally doesn't work if you have the email in preview (a good way of preventing this ) or in outlook if you prevent the download of images automatically.

As a generally rule this isn't the standard the average home user has...which leads to this sort of stuff

Just for "not a scammer" credentials : a Brit live in the SW London , work with some Marketing sw that does this sort of stuff so at least know a little about not tring to spam .......
