Phil Lynnott is just marginally better than Luke Kelly for this song.
Pity they are both gone from us now. |

This was a hard call for me because I'm a fan of all 3 bands but I voted The Dubliners. I know Metallica did a cover because they are/were fans of Thin Lizzy but nobody (not even the late great Phil Lynott) can hold a candle to Luke Kelly and the Dubliners.

I've been a fan of Metallica since "Kill em All" (oh dear, I am getting old) but I don't like their version.
I guess growing up listening to records (and I mean real records played on a record player that had a setting for 45's, 33's and 78's) by the Dubliners, The Wolfe Tones, Mackem and Clancy, Foster and Allen, etc, has corrupted my mind. |
