We brits are taxed to the eyeballs, I would not be at all surprised if we were paying something to the IRS!

Wow, it reads like a cross between a 419 and a bad attorney ad.

Makes me want to ask if the attorney handles accident or malpractice lawsuits--clearly he is the king of man who gets things done, and you know I slipped and fell in WalMart the other day...

Clearly he's not big on client confidentiality--giving out the names (and phone numbers) of all those people.

Come to think of it, she has your number--maybe she should call you on the number she has so you can talk?

Not if you say you learned tax from the Brits. DK is the master of taxes. We officially have the highest level of tax in the world, at least that's what OECD claims.

There is 25% VAT. Progressive income tax with the highest level at 68%, plus special taxes on a lot of products, like CD's, CD-R's, Cars, Houses, Insurances, petrol, electronics etc.

Try to buy a US car in DK, let's say 10,000 USD base price. First the mandatory 2.7% EU-tax, that EU takes. That makes it 10,270 USD.

Then 25% VAT += 12,837.50 USD

Then 180% car tax += 35,945 USD

Then you pay 200 USD for the license plates. 36,145 USD

Then the annual owner tax, which is dependent on the car, but it's a US car, so it drinks gasoline like a sailor drinks alcohol, so let's say 1000 USD a year.

Then the insurance tax. So to make it easy, before you have started the engine in your 10,000 USD car, it has cost you 36,500 USD, where the 26,500 USD is tax! Beat that Brits!

Or the speed tax, when those nasty little camera buggers get you.

I also heard that the Danish are the happiest people in the world (according to some poll. It was written somewhere, so it must be true)

So it all evens out?

What is with that 180% car tax?

Anyway, who would want an American car? We all drive Japanese cars over here.

I don't believe in polls.

In DK, if you buy a new car, you have to pay 180% tax to the government to be allowed to buy license plates for said car.

Just an example. I chose a country out-side EU, because of the extra 2.7% EU tax.

I drive German car myself.

Darn, that is exactly what I don't like about Europe. So many crazy taxes and governments wasting money on stupid subsidizing and to keep people that don't "wish" to work alive.

Well, I always ask the accountants of people that do business with me if they are FART-certified...

I pay 41% on my wages, plus sales tax on every single thing I buy.

Gross wages = €825 per week,
after all deductions: net wages = approximately €175 per week.
