I'm getting bad weather from TS Fay.
I'm hoping my electric will stay on, and it will move away sooner than later.
One county has 58,000 customers without power right now.
I was hit hard by the three hurricanes a few years back. I do not want to repeat the experience ever.
Anyone else being hit by this Tropical Storm? |

@Scarlett - I'm sorry to hear that the storm is so close. Is it a possibility that you might have to vacate? |

I lost my internet, and phone for a bit. It's still very windy, and pouring here. Looking out my window, I see my mailbox has been knocked from the post.
The weather reporter said we had a possible tornado very near me.
30 buildings are damaged, and eight are uninhabitable. We are still under Tornado warning.
There are shelters open, but I pray I won't have to evacuate.
Now they are saying this is just the beginning, it's clearing up a bit, but they are saying it will be back later. This storm won't be over in my area until the early morning of Wednesday. |

Take care through the storm. If you do have to evacuate, you'll be in our thoughts. |

Sorry to hear you're getting the brunt of it Scarlett. It was supposed to come to our area (Tampa), but I guess it went towards where you are overnight. |

Update: TS Fay is still causing a lot of rain and some wind.
So far, I've not lost my power. (thousands have here)
Most importantly of all, no damage to house or limb.
@Worf - yes it was originally supposed to go to the Tampa side.
Days like today make me wish I were back over on that side |

TS Fay keeps on giving.
Today I wake up and look out the window, and the street is flooded.
The water has reached part of my driveway. And it's still raining.
My big "fear" is that a gator or snakes will decide my yard is high ground I'm terrified of snakes!!!
I'm stuck indoors until further notice. I feel blessed that I still have power, and all is well inside.
Thanks to everyone for their thoughts, and prayers.
I am saying a prayer for all who are affected by TS Fay. |

My husband saw an alligator swimming down our street!!
I don't think I ever want to go outside again!! He wanted to go out and check it out! I told him if he opened the door, I would lock him out.
That was the only way I could stop him from going to get a closer look.
Yikes!!! |

Take care Scarlett,
The only good news I guess is that now that you have discovered baiting you wont be bored staying in,
So long as you dont lose power that is
Please feel free to take out your fraudstrations on your pets
As for the alligators, in Australia we have crocodiles that make alligators seem like teddy bears, and your snakes, even the much feared rattle snake is way less deadly than the average snake that we may find around and in our homes.
I once had a red bellied black snake hiding under my lounge 1 hour before my sons 4th birthday party with about 40 of his friends coming and brown snakes have been in my back yard many times.
Thankfully we dont see crocodiles around my area
For those who like snakes You may find this of interest |

I think I would have moved if I discovered a snake inside my home.
I hate alligators, but snakes have scared me since I was a child. I was almost bit by a copper head.
The news is warning us not to go out in the flood waters as there are snakes, alligators, and other unfriendly critters in the water.
That scares me more than the possible infection from contact with the water itself.
I am thankful we still have power! No clue yet when the water will go down enough for us to leave the house. Some neighborhoods have been evacuated by boats. |

Apart from taipans, round here we have snakes like this.....
Quote: |
Five-year-old Marlie Coleman battled a six-metre scrub python to rescue her kitten, Sooty. Marlie came across the snake in the family's backyard as it tried to eat the kitten and without hesitation she wrestled Sooty away from the snake and in the process received a bite on her face. Luckily, the snake was non-poisonous. Marlie was awarded the RSPCA tops award in a presentation at her school last week. |
Plus we have the world's most dangerous tree, which I know from painful experience...
Actually, the most dangerous tree is probably the one thrown around by a hurricane or tornado, so I should stay inside until things calm down if I were you, Scarlett |

Hmm, well, this was my first tropical storm (since I recently moved to Florida for the university here). Though, in the region I was in, it didn't really seem to be much of anything but a bit of a gusty, overcast day with some light rain. -shrug-
We got lucky I suppose. |

The water in my street had receded a bit, but now it's raining again!!
I am still not able to leave the house.
I am thankful that I still have power, and have not been flooded out.
There are many not too far from me, who have lost their homes, and others that have no power.
One person died due to carbon monoxide - he started his generator up in his garage.
I believe I'll take the shotgun out when I go outside again in case any gators or snakes have taken up residence in my yard. |
