Ever notice how some scammers have kinda strange names? You know, like "Williams Davids" or "Martins Bulldozer"? Well, I've discovered that these names might actually be real. I've come across an article about a Nigerian Olympic football team or something, and there was a quote at one point that said the following:

Image

It appears that Nigerians inadvertently name their children some awkward versions of European names. From this clue, I am guessing that some scammers with very fake sounding names are actually using their real names.

I know, I already saw your website, hence my "random" comment Wink, you might want to delete the link to your site and change your username, we like people to be as anonymous as possible when theya re baiting, so they can't be traced, and I don't suppose it would take much to possibly find your home address due to all your details being on the internet.

Let me know what new username you want to use and I'll change it for you straight away.

[edit]

Deleted the link for you as you went offline.

I wouldn't have thought so, they're not quite so daft as to use their own name in criminal endeavours. Far more likely is that they are using names they have heard elsewhere, and quite often they recycle parts from victims names.
In Africa it's very common to find an anglicised "Christian" name used as a surname, and common for it to happen the other way around.
Far from "random", some seemingly random names are thought to bring good luck. Such as "Blessing" or even... erm.... "Goodluck".
(I'm not kidding either).

Good point. I haven't baited in a long time, and I've of course never posted them here (this is my 3rd post), but that's still a good idea. How about R2Bait for my name? I'll remove my website link.

You username has been changed to R2Bait, login as per normal with the new name and the same password you used for the other username.

Then why is it that the scammer's "name" is usually two common first names put together, but the person they want payment sent to via WU is some unusual African/foreign name?
