I dont understand why the lad would lie but it seems he was not in Akure at all but instead in Abuja, that makes your safari much longer than what we first thought and explains why he said it was a 7 hour drive.

A round trip from Abuja to Lagos and back is well over 700 miles making this a very special safari inded.

Good luck with the Camaroon trip, I see no reason why he wont go now as he has invested quite a bit into you and he wont want to see it go to waste.

Now that your pet has the travel bug it is time to start thinking ahead about where to send him next Laughing

Oh, just a thought, any chance of some travel photos, I just love looking at holiday snaps

I chatted with him on YIM for a bit earlier.
He tells me he is selling his extra lap top to get money for the trip.

He wants to make sure I will wait for him in Camer00n, and not go back to the states.
He also would like to get ahold of the mugger. Now that I believe.
That mugger is causing him lots of grief.

The lad's friend has difficulties, and won't be able to travel until Monday.

He went to a map and found a route that will keep him inside Nigeria for most of the trip to Camer00n.

He's decided to travel to me whether or not the friend comes with him on Monday.
He claims weekend travel is difficult due to bus schedules.

We have had a few long YIMs. Of course my injuries make it difficult for me to type. Wink

He showed me new pics of himself. I will post them after I'm sure he's on his way to Camer00n.

Just joined the thread, congrats Scarlett. Impressive work.

Question though, ok, so the lads all have webcams (that seems to be a common with the RomoScam scene). But do they except you to have a webcam too? Or do they insist you get one?

I haven't baited RomoScams yet...because of the above questions.

I wouldn't worry about the web cam. I don't have a lot of baiting experience but I had one on chat who almost commanded me to go buy a web cam! You just work around the web cam thing - just like you work around the $$ thing! Laughing

It's not just scammers who want you to have a webcam. I have a friend in London who asks me every time we chat if I have one yet. I keep saying that I intend to get one soon.

First you have to figure out if your computer is set up to use webcam. Then you have to go to every electronics store in town to check out prices and options. Then you have to go to the nearest big city to see if the prices are lower or the selection bigger. Then you have to rest your brain from information overload. Then you have problems with delivery. Then you have problems with installing it. Then you discover that it's broken and the store will have to replace it, which will take time.

See? Lots of emails/chat and lots of wasted time, and still no webcam. The trick, though, is that you never introduce the subject in your emails or chat. Always let the scammer bring it up.

@US_Spook - I've had a few romance lads want to see me on cam.
Depending on my character I've used the following excuses:

By the time this lad confessed, I was in the UK, and no web cam with me.
Then no new pic cause the laptop battery died, and had wrong battery charger with me.
Now, I'm using the family friend's laptop, and no web cam.

If I have kids, tell him don't have cam because afraid kids will use it while I'm at work.

I've used the excuse that other people in the café could see me, and that isn't what I want.

Or I'm at work, and can't use cam.
If they keep asking, I just pretend I don't notice the request.

Ahh, ok. My MacBook has a webcam on it, but I would hate to have it "click on" during a YIM. Haha. That would be a bit awkward.

I was asking mostly because some lads (not romoscams) want to see me IMing them while we "negotiate" these dollar transactions.

And no, I am not stupid enough to do that. I could tell them the US Govt doesn't allow webcams in their spaces, nor can I have a camera picture phone either. But I am afraid they'd just run away. Heh.

^^Some very good advice up there Titania, just to add to the list of excuses, you have a very small monthly download limit and last time you had one hooked up it left you offline for weeks, after that you sold it on ebay.

Nothing but trouble those webcam thingies, you could also do Wayne's Uni class on webcams that will give you another option which actually lets them see the real 100% risky free you of course it wont really be you and your webcam may have even more problems that the lad will be able to see for himself

@Spook,
if your worried about that webcam why not put a little tape over it when your baiting, make sure its not clear Wink

Update:

I finally received emails from my lad traveling to Camer00n.
He said he was delayed at a border. I wonder if him not having a passport might be the cause of the delay?

Anyway, the trip is taking him longer than he first thought.
He'll be calling the family friend via 5imba camp today.

Here is an offline message I received from him today:
