We used to collect them, but only to fire at the smaller kids

Marathon bar here in the US many years ago was a foot long caramel and chocolet bar that looked kind of like it was braided. and their slogin was "last a long long long time"

@ Slightly was there ever any charity that would accept ring pulls?
I thought it was a big hoax.
My MIL wouldn't believe me and made us shift a whole load of them when she moved. I tried reasoning that the cans would be more valuable than the ring pulls but so and so had said the ring pulls were what was needed so that's what was being collected!

What did Minstrels used to be called, I'm sure they had another name.
We used to stop on the way home from swimming at a shop that sold pokes of toffee doddles, sports mixtures and sherbet that came in a twist of paper

There was actually a couple charitys here in the US that did take them. they would turn them in for recyleing.all those pull tabs were worth some money in scrap metal.

^^ We've just recieved a big packet of those mate, we had a challenge on night shifts as to who can say the most dodgy sounding saying to the other players. We put them all face down, like dominos, then each select one. Each person reads out loud to the others.. The one with the campest sounding saying gets to eat all the other players sweets.

For example, "Hello", "Hunk" and "Funny face" are trumped in the manly gayness stakes by "Cuddle me" or "Hold me".

I think you have to be there for the effect. Confused
