If you get a new computer with Vista, does it not let you install an older version of microsoft office for XP?

I keep getting errors?

you might be able to patch it. Try searching the vista help pages.

EDIT: Apparently it's officially supported - http://kb.wisc.edu/helpdesk/page.php?id=5175

If it keeps not working you could try openoffice

I had problems doing this too.

Mine installed though, it just wouldn't run properly. If you can't get it to even install, I don't know how to help. But if you get it installed and then have problems, try letting it run as an administrator.
If I remember correctly, it was a right click, properties, then on the compatibility tab I had to click the box for running the program as an administrator.

Every person that I know that has tried to install an older version of MS Office on a computer running Vista has problems. MS Office 2007 runs with Vista, but anything older than that is problematic. Sad

Mine is the reverse problem. Windows XP with Office 2007. Can't shut it down 9 times out of ten without it reporting an error. Microsoft haven't yet mentioned any sort of fix. Browsing the various forums gives a number of leads though.

I'm running XP with Office 2007 - no problems (so far). I hope that the leads are good ones that will help fix the problem.
