Hey all, i stumbled across this site earlier today and i was quite amused. I thought about trying this myself at one point, but decided not to.
Anyways... has anyone ever tried copy/pasting one of the 419 letters to a scammer that you have never talked to? I think it would be interesting to see what they would say |

Welcome to Eater.
As to your question: 75% chance the lad plays along (and yes, it's been done). |

It's actually closer to around 73% chance, but I guess we can excuse JMR for that error.
Welcome! |

@redskull11 - If a lad replies to another scam Email, it isn't because he has fallen for it, its because it gives him the opportunity to steal another scammer's script...

Good thing to mention, Simba. (PS - no answer in Burkina yet).
What Simba mentioned there is also a good way to seed scammers with idiotic scripts. The recent Martian one comes to mind immediately. You can develop insane formats for them to use, and some of them will steal them to try to scam. |

A great way to introduce a completely different format is an ASEM (accidentally sent email) saying "How quickly do you think I'll be able to get the trunk? I've got my redundancy money which will cover that lawyers fee you mentioned, but I really need the cash for my boy's chemo/college/etc" - sheer greed can get lads trying to guess backstories (which you kindly feed them) for a chance to get their filthy mitts on the cash! |
