I wouldn't classify this outfit as a "Scam".
High pressure sales-Yep.
I sold knives for them when I was a Freshman in College (14 yrs ago).
I actually still have the 6 piece set that you need to buy initially. They are still pretty sharp.
The knives themselves are perhaps a bit over priced, but for cutlery they are great. I had a nice hunting knife also, but a mover stole it when we were moving.
Incidently they are wholly owned by Alcoa the Aluminum giant.
Scammers...not really. Hard core sales...yep. I drove my District Manager NUTS. They demanded paper work (10calls a day etc) but I NEVER did any of them. Fortunatly I lived in a pretty nice area, and people didn't mind shelling out top $$ for a set of cutlery from the neighbors kid. They didn't bother me about paper work after I sold my 3rd $1200 full set in 1 month.
I did grow tired of the job, and stopped selling after about 3 months. I made about $1200.
Much more than I would qualify for to be "scammed" |

oops. Sorry, didn't mean to break rules.
DIdn't think this particualr thread needed to be split. Doubtful there would have been many more responses. Now it just appears out of context, and doesn't really relate to anything.
I'll be more mindful of the policy in future postings. |

^^ here is the part of the rules that covers thread necromacy and explains why the topic was split. The last post in that thread prior to yours was May 20, 2008 - almost two months ago.

Please avoid thread necromancy (that is: posting in a thread that has been inactive for several weeks to bump it back to the top of a forum again). Old threads have usually little relevance anymore. Also, members that posted in it may not be around anymore. If you really want to bring up an old discussion again because you have something of value to add, post a new thread and put a link in it to the old thread. That way people do not have to read through all the old posts to see what is new. |
You are welcome to carry on if you like. |

No. I wasn't trying to be obtuse. I'll be more mindful in the future. |
